I wasn't trying to start a slug fest.
I'm aware that there are mods that can be done prior to paint so as to not ruin paint. I have 2 SN skis and both are getting the hoods hacked up so that i can redo the liner and keep water out. However, if someone is not doing subs are carving really hard, than there is no reason for them to do those mods as it won't be an issue for the riding style. Same goes for Tubbies. You can put them on prior to paint and then paint them to match the ski so that it's a far cleaner looking ski when the paint dries, but again if it's not an aggressive rider who is satisified with the ski as is, than there's no reason for that either.
My statement was directed at Boris, not for what he said, but how he said it. I took it as saying "well there's no point in painting your ski because you haven't done X,Y & Z yet." Where as I agree that perhaps X,Y & Z are worth doing, it doesn't mean that everyone needs to do it.
If it were phrased something like "you should think about doing X,Y & Z before you paint your ski" it gives are far more constructive vibe to it.
I think people get stuck in their ways more than they realize and don't necessarily take others thoughts and goals into consideration.
Ok i've said my peace.
If you're going to tear into it, that's fine.
