Super Jet Thinking of Painting my SJ. Any Ideas?

So I just got this 92 SJ with a 701 motor in it. The motor is strong and the hull is in good condition. The ski has been painted and not my choice of color. It is a burnt orange but now I am thinking about painting it this winter.

Colors that I was thinking:

-Green
-Lime green mixed with a metallic green
-Just Metallic green
-Blue with black
-Metallic Blue

Also if anyone knows of a good painter in Michigan please let me know.

would love to help you out with the paint if i was closer! we chose blue and green on one we did last year and they look good together. colors are House of Kolor Limetime/True Blue/and Orion silver.

that color looks sick in person. used it on alot of cars b4 but wasn't sure if i wanted a green ski and now everyone loves it.

any decent urethane automotive paint should be fine. naturaly if price is not an issue i would recomend something like PPG DBC or House of Kolor for your base and at least a "mid grade" urethane clear for your top coat. House is really not that pricey compared to other paints unless your looking for something really cheap. you can also use single-stage but if your going for the metallic or pearl look i strongly recomend a base/clear combo over a single-stage.

Good Info! I always remember HOK being high in price but this was back when I as 18 so I am sure it has changed. I just need to find someone that can paint around my area..lol

I hear ya! I love painting and/or custom fabrication . . . but prep work gets old sometimes. Im too picky at times for something im just going to destroy! lol

So I assume that SN has every mod already done to it since you are concerned about the paint ?

Is that a stock handle pole and stock air intakes on that unmodified hood I see ???

Not everyone is concerned about how fast or powerful their ski is. Just like cars. Just because it has a paint job, doesn't mean they are a race car.
A lot of people are concerned with show more than go.

A bit rude to think that everyone would focus on moding thier ski before making it look good.

I don't believe that Boris is talking about power and speed mods. These are mods that will help with keeping water out of your bilge area as well as some simple handling changes that will really help you develop you skills. The reason to mod first is that when you decide to mod, that nice pretty paint job will go out the door. Either way, best of luck and hope she comes out shinning

I agree, but I have found there are two different positions on this topic. One group is more concerned with looks, the other is more invested in the performance. I'm a looks guy, I love custom cars... never gotten into racing though.

I see what he's saying but I agree it can defintely be seen as a snide comment. I bought a ski that already has performance mods, and i'm gonna make it look cool... Even if I beat it up, it will be a beat up cool looking ski.
