We have been experiencing RED TIDE down here. It's an alge thing that can cause all the stuff you are talking about. IT can also be fatal.

Look it up, compare your symptoms, and get medical attention if required.

where do you get your info?

No deaths of humans have been attributed to red tide, but people may experience respiratory irritation (coughing, sneezing, and tearing) when the red tide organism (Karenia brevis) is present along a coast and winds blow its toxic aerosol onshore. Swimming is usually safe, but skin irritation and burning is possible in areas of high concentration of red tide

Hey Tim, thx for the informative link (and whomever mentioned it to begin with). I checked on the dates we were all there, and this is all that came up (but there is a contact number):

I know nothing on the subject, so I believe you, but...

wikipedia isn't exactly the most reliable source.

I changed Andre Rieu's biography (performer who played our arena last year) to say that his father was a gay porn star. It stayed up there for days until someone noticed the change. :lmao:

Just a logical guess, but any related fatalities would more than likely be rare and only for those whom had a pre-existing, lowered immune deficiency to begin with (ie. Extreme asthma or upper respiratory disease). I think everyone is sick from the bacterial and viral infections which have been going around down here for a while.

I can't believe you guys are talking about the Makia like that, when I left my Driftwood room and walked through my buddy's room at the Makia I thought I was at the Ritz

Moondance

Just plain me....
The Makai is no nastier than most of you fockers...besides... it IS where the freeride IS! :Banane36:
If you read or watch any report on the cleanliness of hotels/motels, even the 5 star have their issues. Chalk it up to being out of a normal routine, too much partying, not enough sleep, different climate & a whole host of people being in the same space at the same time carrying around whatever germs they've come in contact with along the way. It is what Jerry has dubbed it....the Floridian Plaque:trink26:

Anyone else notice how nasty smelling the sand was once they rinsed off their skis?

I rinsed off my skis the wednesday after coming home, and the sand smelled like a bad fish market.
