Taking on water??

Stay tuned to the X. Watch listen and learn. 99% of the guys on here will lead you down the right path. Soon you'll realize the dealer has NO business touchin YOUR Ski.:Flush:

Yea, like I mentioned.....the idiot that installed the battery when I bought the one ski didnt even know how to lock the pole up and ended up bending the pin and screwing up the fiberglass. I am holding them responsible for that. I am going to run this bitch on the trailer tomorrow and see if I cant tell where its coming from.

Is it possible that it could be coming from the driveshaft when its in the water? Is something along those lines possible on a new boat?

Is there any seals, tubes, connections that I cant get to whithout removing something......that is that I should be able to see or that isnt staring me in the face (common stuff)?

Gonna buy two of those versiplug-r s now. Then I'll be on here asking for specific directions and parts needed to install the bilge pumps.

Looking at this simple little motor........seems like its pretty easy to screw with. Im sure this is just the beginning of me digging into mods and etc....

Like with everything else, I get the mod bug!

The best bilge pump for the sxr is the Rulemate 750. It will sit right where your tool kit is...and bungee right down...then just run a hose and bilge fitting and your done. No switch needed and no glue...

Nice, that is what I will have to do. Would a 500g work?

Anyway,
I brought the pig into the water. I figured I would tie it up and run it in the water. By the time parked the truck, came back down and opened up the hood, it was already filled with about six inches of water. WTF!!
It could not have been more than five or ten minutes.

Its gotta be coming from the drive shaft seal???? The pig didnt leak when I filled the hull up at home. Is it possible that the outside pressure could make it take water on that quick? Any other ideas?

Yup, your you have a waterline off. Put it back in the water and sit there with the hood off and watch. Dont put it in, go park truck, heck, leave it on the trailer, just back it down with the hood off and go back and look.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you realize that you should have listened and opened up your &ucking eyes?

Well, I dropped it back in and looked at the water line going from the engine bay aft on the right side where the the "waterline" was. It had slipped off. It was the one behind the battery.

I put the versiplug-r in and it works pretty good. Still a little water in the bay but, I guess nothing more than expected. I wil lbe putting in the bilge pump sooner than later.

LOL, yeah, We all have done that. It will get to a point when you actually know alot, how to rebuilt, tune, diagnose. You have several problems, blown motors, you figure them all out. Then one day, it starts acting up, you check jetting, fuel filters, plug wires, check compression. Put new plugs in, cut the plug wires back. Rebuilt the carbs. Replaced gaskets......... Then you look down and you were low on gas the whole time. LOL

Sometimes it is the most simple thing

Wow, I guess I shouldnt feel so stupid. Haha........

Tell me this, can I rip that stupid bilge system under the drive shaft out when I put a real bilge in? It obviously works like :):):):).

You can purchase a bracket that actually attaches to the stock siphon system. You can either go single or dual rule 500GPH pumps with this bracket. They just clear the drive shaft

Once again, use the 750 Rulemate bilge and bungee it down where your tool kit goes. 500's suck and they need a switch. 750 is wayyyy faster and turns on automatically. No switch needed so it is cheaper in the end, you also don't need a bracket.

,,,,,and yes, block off the stock siphon.

Yea, thats the plan. The 750 rulemate seems to bee the easiest way to go about things. This may be a stupid question but, can I route the line from the bilge through the out siphon water line? Keeping in mind I get rid of that thing. Otherwise I figure I will just run a 45* exit on the right opposite of the other.

That stock siphon doesnt seem to do anything anyway. Piece of crap factory design if you ask me.

Putting it where the tool kit is, doesn't that still leave a bunch of water in the hull since that location is higher than the bottom of the bilge? I was planning on leaving the stocker in just to clear the water out that is below the pump level.
It is a nice easy install putting it where the tool kit is. I have the pump, and the 45* outlet. I was going to put it in this weekend. Where do ya'll run the outlet to?

Try sticking a garden hose im from the rear of the ski. take the hood off and see if and water is coming in. If so, the driveshaft seal is bad or the apoxy came of the hose that runs from front to back. I just had that happen to mine
