Okay...took ski to Daytona, ran PERFECT, then died. Ski has Aluminum Flywheel and a Factory B (wet) Pipe. All electronics and carbs are stock, except Factory Pipe Jets, Popoff. Compression at 155 (thats where it always is).

So far, this is what I have done.

Complete Motor Rebuild Top and Bottom.
Complete Carb Rebuilds
Brand New Stock Reeds.

Tried to Start Ski, it backfired so loud that it blew my pipe coupler off. Took apart and see that the woodruff key wouldn't stay put and flywheel slipped on crank. Check woodruff, it is beat up. Order a new one, get flywheel back on. I KNOW it is on correctly now. Try to start...Sounds like timing is way off????? wtf? I am at a loss.

Spark plug wires are not backwords. EBox looks nice and clean and sealed inside.

blew a reed from backfire? (but compression feels good)
bad stator?

Input? Ideas?
If anyone has any numbers on how to check electrical parts, please send em to me. Thx!

^ completely disagree. I had an amazing minty stator beginning of season that sparked perfect but wouldn't even cough to start. Turned out that was the issue when I tested out with vogi's spare.

I've seen cranks spin. Meaning the pins spin In the flyweights knocking them out of time. Not very common but I had it happen on a 900 triple zxi sit down that had a SBT short block with very low hours.

Zach, 2004 and newer kawi stators do not power the CDI, the battery does. Its a completely different electrical setup than a yamaha.... It is looking like CDI.

A. Not a tank. Trinity hull. Lighter than a SJ. (hee hee)
B. Got full spark, tried swapping CDIs with a running ski, same problem.

Checking...trigger right now. but has perfect spark.
Still feels like timing is off. Wtf??? Is there a way this SBT crank could cause the timing to be off???
