Ok this is a serious question and I would like serious answers. Why is everyone selling off all the small backflip boats, I have seen this in droves here lately. Is it a build quality issue, a rideability issue, what exactly? .I would actually prefer you not turn this thread into a bashfest but if anyone has a serious, legitimate reason I would be most interested in hearing it.

Before getting into details on either hull I want to point out that the stunt and the BOB were really the first aftermarket hulls to be affordable by your average rider. This time last year, the stunt was the only hull below about $5k-$6k. Then shortly afterwards the BOB came out. The BOB cost a little more but had better customer service and build quality. Now there are countless hulls under $5k and the choices are much greater. It's kind of like buying a big bore engine and then a couple months later you find out you could've had an even bigger engine for only a little more. You'd get all googly eyed for more power and you'd seriously consider the new engine.

I want to say that I like my stunt hull but it took some serious effort to get it to ride like a normal boat. I'm NOT considering selling mine so consider me a happy short boat rider. There is a delicate weight balance on such small boats. So if the original owner doesn't have the patience to set it up, they most likely will not like it. Patience for fine tuning got thin for most stunt owners as cleaning up the pathetic build quality was priority number 1. My hull has excellent slow speed control but gets very squirrelly at higher speeds.

As for the BOB hulls... I've ridden the first and second generations. Both had excellent build quality and from what I hear from the owner, customer service was second to none. The problem with the BOB was it's very much a purpose built hull meant for backflipping. That purpose built concept creates a major problem if you just want to mess around on the water on your day off. Recreational riding on the shorter hulls is much harder. I thought slow speed on the BOB was very unstable but at mid to high speed it was more controllable making wake jumping difficult without plowing through the wake.

On a side note, I thought the footholds in both hulls were total crap. I could talk both positively and negatively about both hulls for quite a while but I think the above information is the basic, no BS, information requested. If you'd like me to clarify on anything or want more information, just ask.

I rode my BOB about 8 times before I got rid of it and bought another one. I sold mine to a guy that wanted one and I wanted a carbon one so things just worked out. A few other BOB owners are selling them for financial reasons. I think some guys buy after market hulls and forget the about the money that needs to go into them. Being a cheaper base hull people think the whole build is going to be cheap and get in way over there heads.

my guess is people buy the boats before riding them

I think this may ring some truth.
I was really excited about BOB too, and was seriously considering transferring all the components from my SN (701) into one. Then I rode it and changed my mind. I did not feel comfortable with it nor had the skills to master it, at least not yet. I think you need to ride what you feel comfortable for starters. The superfreak at stock length catches my attention as I am 200lbs+.....anyone ordered one in Cali yet? :icon16:

Yeah none of those short boats ride like a superjet. Everyone jumps on them thinking they will handle like that and they don't----Leading to a quick flip.

Thats my worthless opinion.

I never rode the BOB, but i have ridden the Stunt and the outlaw hull. I do not OWN either, so i have only a brief knowledge of the work that has gone into them- a lot. These hulls can vary between riders and riding setups, which can make them finicky. In MY opinion, i view them as purpose built boats, and unless you have the tools and knowledge to make it ride the way you want, your wasting your time and money. However, they can be fun to ride if you know how to handle them.

Xscream has nothing to do with the new superfreak, thats all Tem,
btw That small hull hadles 1000 times better that SJ hands down
as for the bob.. i think everyone is selling them because they want the newer one that has some of tem/xscream design.. and because they were told it doesn't ride nose high

I think Brett is talking about the changes Pat told Ski Clinic he would make after XS got there BOB... Rails, pump, etc... Which was the mods made to the old SF....

The New Superfreak is short like a bob, rides perfect.. Surf, Flatwater, race at the lake... We had Lucas's motors in the first badass, WTF for 4-5 seconds hull wasn't bucking anyone off....

I rode a BOB, was very hard to ride IMO for the short time I rode it... Would take time to get use to, but your not chasing boats with it...

I'm picking my new SF Badass up tomorrow, its a little heavy compared to all these other A/M short hulls...

?????

Hull came in at 51 lbs

I think people bought these short hulls before riding one!

We only do the pump mod on a very few select hulls. The only permanent mod we did that Pat told us about was the wider rails.

And about the hulls being sold, everyone is selling off their old hulls and buying new ones over the off season, cause people can afford to do that with a BOB, and not with Rickters or EMEs. 2 of the guys I know of are selling their BOBs because of financial issues. Another one is selling due to a non-sports related injury. Only 1 guy has sold his BOB for a different brand hull. We know the BOB isn't perfect for everybody, and we didn't want it to be. We got it to ride how we liked it, and offered it to the public at a price that most people can afford. I sold my Black BOB because I picked up X Metals complete BOB. We then sold that hull because I'm getting a carbon one. My dad sold his carbon hull because he's building a newer, lighter carbon hull.

People aren't selling them purely because they don't like them. That's not the case at all. The guy that sold his BOB for the Superfreak constantly told me he liked the BOB, but the Superfreak was more for his style. You gotta remember, Terry; it's the off season and people are building new rides. Not everyone uses the same ski year after year after year. If you have anymore questions about WHY people are selling their BOBs, feel free to message me.

i don't think anyone is bashing the bob. i was a little freaked by what people thought the resale should be, but that's just me. i thought about starting a thread like this a few weeks back, but didn't want to get flamed. there has been a few stunts and bobs for sale lately!

ps, i get my new superfreak in two weeks! :p

It's tough to make a foot hold that fits everyone perfectly, so we just made a general foothold, and the owners can modify them with turf to fit how they want.

we've got something for 2011. Like I said... Everyone is selling their current BOBs for newer ones.

Quite a few BOBs for sale indeed but lets not forget that quite a few were sold this year.
What # hull are they up to now ? I'm sure it's up there.
Look how many other barely used hulls came on the market this past year and compare that to the total sold of each model.

I know that I could never buy a hull without first riding it and even than I know I would be in for some tuning. How many here ride all stock Superjets ?

More than 30 units finished. I believe we may be above 40.

We invite anyone to come by and try out our demo ski and make their own opinion on the hull. There are also over 20 units within the states, so there's bound to be a BOB around your area.

Honestly, the only reason im selling mine is I jumped into this having only ridden my buddies 91 superjet once like 6 years ago. thought it looked like fun, I live on a lake, and had the cash. (and once I get an idea in my head I run with it.)

Only rode about 7 times this summer and it was fun but never got that into it and want the money to go back to school.

I rode the superjet I switched the stuff out of before the build a couple times and in my opinion the BOB was WAY more fun.
