stock superjet on the flatwater

I have a stock 04 superjet I ride flatwater only. I had a 300sx, a 03 sxr 800 and in 05 bought the 04 superjet. After
riding those skis, I realize I am into freestyle riding. I weigh 190 lbs. I am going to buy the skat- track swirl 12/17
(unless you think 13/17). I am also getting the worx 102 intakegrate. (unless that is more for surf) and a TBM Racing Yamaha Super Pump Cone, is the cone worth the money for the price? My reason for mod is that my impeller has a couple of nicks and I heard stainless is a big improvement. I thought as long as I was going to change out the impeller that I should do the other stuff that I listed. Unless the pros on this site think my money should go some ware else. I am only going to spend about $600-$800 bucks. I am not going to put footholds on cuz I am always moving my feet around. When I am doing tricks my feet are on the back where they should be, I push my legs so hard outwards that there is no hair 8 inches up, it looks like I shave the outside of my legs. Sorry this is so long, I am not an English major. But every weekend after the ice is off the lake I am out riding. It is the best toy I own.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the x forum !
you will always get different opions on mods
yes a stainless will be a huge improovment over the stocker
but always keep in mind that you will always want more power!
so with that said id say the 13/17
you will also need to improve the exhaust system as your next mod
i wouldnt worry about the tbm cone but get a wetwolf stubby cone , cheaper and better for freestyle

Its not that hard to put footholds in you dont need to be a master at fiberglass to do it. Once you ride with foothold you will wish you always had them.
I would not get the TBM cone. That is more for if you have a high HP motor and your having trouble spinning your prop.
A good prop is the first thing your going to want to get. I like the hooker prop but the skat trak is good too. You might want to get a little more power out of your motor too. You can get your head shaved for higher compression cheap and also get your flywheel lightened at the sametime for cheap. The biggest thing you could do for power would be exhaust. If you can afford a new factory B pipe then get that if not you can also find pro tec, riva red, coffman sizzlers, exhaust used for around $300 range.

I would go with footholds. I was hesitant at first myself, but they rock like a hurricane. I would never ride without them. Cutting the turf for them is terrible, but the glassing and cutting part is fun, just put gold bond or baby powder on your arms and neck prior to starting.
Blowsion makes a foot hold kit (I believe) that comes with the right amount of foam in and epoxy if your not wanting to buy the big cans of it, but epoxy is something you want to have on hand IMO. I had to buy the big cans of foam in when I did my stuff, they say it goes bad after awhile, but I got my fingers crossed.

I'm thinking of doing handholds too now when I re-do my hood insert, but that's because I have hurt my fingers in the past grabbing the vents in the surf while floating next to the ski and now I will be sealing them off.

I hear the worx 102 is good for surf. Is it also good for flatwater, if not what one. I think I will tackle footholds next winter. given all the good reviews.

Thanks so much for all the reply's

The short cone did not work for me AT ALL on that set up. Go with the 85mm bored nozzle and a 13/17 re pitched to 13/16 and shortened 3mm IMO.......it hits PERFECT! As good as it will get with what you have IMO.

if it were me, a 9/15 hooker and footholds...or atleast straps. you gotta keep your feet locked in man. or it will hurt. trust me/us. then ride the piss out of it till u get more money. then a pipe. those 3 things will make a very big difference for you. well it did for me anyways. if you went with somthing other then a bpipe, you may just get all 3 for your $800 budget. or close.

Hey i am not a very crafty person but i did the footholds and it is much easier than you think, just a bit time consuming. It is the turf that was tough. Just remember with fiberglass if you mess up grind it off and do it again. :) that is how i learned.

if you dont want to do foot holds you can get lifter bars, i had a 04 superjet and didnt want to sut into it for the longest time, so i got a set of ap designs side mats with lifters built it, was a great start but still not as locked in obviously as with foot holds.

starting on the pump is a great place to start a skat or solas prop, plus the right intake grate/ride plate, opinions on this will vary, best thing to do is search the forum.

for now i wouldnt drop the $350 into a tbm pump cone, doesnt seem to make sense

id say b-pipe or flywheel would be your best bang for the buck, pipe first, if you can find a used b-pipe for around $500, new prop $200, new intake grate $100 and run your stock ride plate so your spending about $800 but you will notice the difference

a flywheel, you can grab a lightend one for $100-150 or a decent aftermarket or new are $450-600, but that could be your next step

After all the replay's telling me to put in footholds that many people cannot be wrong.
This November I will put in footholds. I have3 questions though,#1 does anybody think putting in the bpipe will shorten the motors life. #2 how much louder is the pipe cuz I like fishing and I don't want to give this sport a bad rap. If it is really loud it will piss off my neighbors. #3 is the worx 102 the best intake-grate for flatwater, or should I just leave in the stock one.

Thanks for all the help. This forum is the best!!!!!

I think you are on the right track - footholds before pipe IMHO.
Looking back I would probably have even changed the impeller before the pipe, just because of the cost involved.
B-Pipe is defintiely louder than stock, but not obnoxious with the stock waterbox and rear exhaust.
