Steering Cable differences

I am about to order a new steering cable for my '08. I want to use a thicker cable so I planned on ordering a WaveBlaster II steering cable. Is the WB 2, GP800, and GP1200 cables all the same? I remember hearing that they were, but the prices and product #'s on Parker Yamaha's website are different. Any help here would be appreciated.

I wouldn't imagine any of those will be long enough to go up the handlepole and still reach the back.

Pretty sure it will work, at least I hope (although I appreciate your input). I'll keep you guys updated when I get it and try it. I think I'll order the Blaster II cable and try it.

why not get someone who has one to measure the length and the ends for you before you spend the money?

After installing my new quick steer plate, I have learned that on the 08, its a short cable, and that blowsions turning plate doesnt work. :( The cable bottloms out prior to the plate hitting the stop.....

The 08 uses a FX1 steering cable.
The guys in Europe say to run a GP1200 cable. I think you will also have to get the end piece for a GP. I'm sure you have Derick on this with the b2 cable.
Let me know, I need to order a cable for my RN and wanted to get the GP one.

Should have mentioned that I have an '07 cable. I want a thicker GP cable so it does not break. Thanks though.

unless you do not have have your limits set right, you should rarely tweak a cable. In 9 years I have only tweaked 1 cable, and it was because I modded the location of the steering ball and did not set the limits correctly and make sure everything was clearanced.

do you break alot of them? I have broken 2 in about 5 years..

one just broke because it was crusty (orig 96)..

the second was because I forgot to tighten the little lock nut....

The Euros run the GP cable because they have more throw and are more durable.

any links to a mod thread about this?
