Just wondering if any of our parts slingers were going to be selling boxes '' 10 pack '' of sparkplugs at the freeride ?? I wanted to get box of each B8ES / B8HS solid top plugs .... thought I would stock up down there ... If not, I'll just buy online .. THX

Frank,

You know you can get them from me any time you want... Match or beat any price around... Plus you can get them anytime you want to come up and ride with me and the gang... Much shorter drive and cheaper shiping then Daytona or the internet...

You said: "they don't make brhs in solid terminal"

What is this application that requires non-resistor plugs, or is it personal preference?

It just personal preference ... Resisters are just to keep external electrical interference to a minimum as far as my understanding goes , so.... I have no electronics im concerned with in the hull so why use a resister-plug ?

Couple reasons I can think of:
1. They do not hurt performance
2. They're available in solid terminals
3. Later model SJ's were recommended to run resistor plugs. Why the change?

But it won't make a difference either way.

LOL ! You missed the point ! ... Its Just to keep circulating $ within the freeride community . I could get my machine work done at ANY machine shop too .!! Think Ill just buy the ''MONKEYPLUGS ''.. THX Monkey !

The plugs you are asking for in the original posting run about $1.50 each or so, at 10 per box you'd really not be making anyone rich off selling them to you. Buy a head, or a cylinder or two, and maybe you'd then be 'reinvesting in the rider community'....

But anyway, buy where you want. I'll get mine at O'Reillys and the specialty parts at the specialty rider shops.

Ok People settle down they are just spark plugs we are talking about... the guy asked who could get him some plugs... I offered to get them for him since I am local and I ride with him on a regular basis...

You are right resistor or not doesn't matter much... I am not going to make any money on the deal... I will give them him at cost b/c I can't buy them for much less than you can get them at the local autoparts store...

it was a typo between brhs and b8hs...

You sure about that Matt, they are called resistor plugs because they have a resistor built into the plug, most stock spark plug caps also have a resistor in them which on Yamahas especially goes bad over a period of time and makes the ski run like crap.
A resistor resists the flow of electrical current which decreases spark output at the plug. You are right, normally in a stock engine it makes no difference however if you are running high compression and total loss and have spent a small fortune already to get the most spark possible why hamper it by running resistor plugs?????????

You have a good point! The stock plug wires are resistive, so there is no "need" for a resistor plug. I have run resistor and non-resistor plugs back-to-back on these setups and never could tell a difference. But I am not very good at telling small differences in performance.
Now - for higher performance setup like MSD total loss, you'd be running solid core wires (non-resistive) and non-resistor terminals. And MSD instructions tell you to run resistor plugs with their TL ignitions.
The ATP Total Loss uses the stock coil (resistive wires, stock terminals) and still requires resistor plugs (Disclaimer: I might be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time)

Those were my assumptions that I didn't type out - you're right, though. But as you pointed out, it won't hurt in a stock setup, and a performance setup most likely needs the resistor plugs anyways.

I don't think oem yamaha superjet plug caps or wires have a resistor. Aftermarket NGK plug boots do have a resistor. Oem yamaha couch plug wires are resistor also.

I think on NGK boots it depends on the color whether it has a resistor...they have both according to what a Yamaha parts manager told me...
