SN vs RN. Whats the difference?

Don't disagree with your post....but what is available for the RN that can't be adapted to the SN?

ok so buy, rig, and mod stuff to work, or just buy what works.

i believe hoods are an essential mod for a surf ski, my stock hood would be crushed if i learned backflips with it.

You brought up AM...I was just asking what's not available for a SN as well, was hoping to learn something from it

Besides, whose ski isn't or hasn't been rigged...or had things modded to work. That's part of working on your own shiat

true, not taking anything away from the square, its still a superjet. it just takes a bit more work to get it to stock rn standards

so when ever will a car ride over your hood in the surf :O

on topic
listen to stanton. the RN is the same but better. the design is better looking and it´s stronger, more power, better pole, no flimsy fuel door, better hood, better tray,

if you have the cash for a RN go for it.

my 2cents. i have both rn and sn's. the sn has ben my 1 boat since 1993 or so. i got my 1st rn in 96.rode it the 1st year or so. still liked the sn better. sn imo handles better then a rn. rn feels better in the surf. with a few parts (exhaust tube and a rn water box)the performance is the same. (701 to 701) i just did a surf rn and am very happy with it. but it turns like crap next to my sn. (set up is allmost the same i.e. tubbies ,plate ,grate, pole) go for the sn if money is an issue you will have just as much fun. the sn is ugly i will give that much.

Dammit, I tried to drive my truck on my old stock RN hood over lunchbreak.
My truck's too wimpy, I couldn't get on the hood. It kept moving.

Great thread, good points all around.
I have never climbed out on the hood of a RN, but it seems like the SN would be better for hood tricks because of the flatter surface.

I think you can go back and forth all day long on this one. It's personal preference. I have had both and currently have one of each. I actually like the ride of my square nose better, but it is really water logged and heavy so it's really stable.

Whatever you do make sure you get a 701.
I have found the RN top deck to be more solid and there are more hood options available if you want to go aftermarket. To me, that's really the only advantage to the RN other than cosmetic. I hate the front nose piece and fuel door on the SN.
