SN VS RN: What does an extra 23hp do?

depends on how your going to ride. If strictly flatwater, then the RN is much better. For Surf, you cannot go wrong with either hull.

what makes the rn better for flatwater? i have heard that a sn hull is heavier but have never seen any proof. and how much heavier ?i know the square waterbox weighs weighs like 100 pounds. what is the difference in pivot points? i take a round is up further? i just realy see why i need to spend a grand on a hull for no noticeable performance gains, just cool looks

guys guys guys, a SN and RN both with a 62T/61X top are going to be 'fairly' close, so for me, rather than buying the 701 for my SN, I just figure go to the RN.

That is the difference, they are not even close, especially when modified...

I spent a lot of time and money to make my SN feel and handle like my RN...

I think you got that bass ackwards.

It's everyone trying to make their RN's handle like the SN's. Buying lower pole brackets just so the pivot point can be as low as the SN and expensive lowered hoods that are as high as stock SN hoods.

SN waterbox is heavy but a RN one fits in just right.
A SN hood can be strong and light with the right liner.
A SN pole sucks but a RN one bolts right up.
So, how much heavier is a SN hull ? Stock V's stock chances are it's not as RN's get waterlogged while all the SN's I have cut open thus far have been bone dry.
The handling is subjective and since both have the same hull I don't see how that could be any different.

I'd much rather build up a strong driveline than spend the cash on looks alone.

Dave is all for toys, provided you are out of debt and the value of your toys + your cars is less than 0.5 years income. Or something like that.
I'm yet to meet someone who is out of debt, can afford toys and is over two.
Oh, and they almost can pronounce the complicated word "car".

Just from my experience... :pancake:

Why MUCH better?

Leverage.

Yes, they share the same bottom, but that is the extent of it. I am not saying that the SN is bad. I have found that you can throw around the RN hull much easier than the SN. Yes, there are plenty of people who can ride the hell out of their SN. Put them on an equally set RN and I guarantee you they will ride better.

leverage? why? is the pivot point closer to the nose? all i hear is that they are better but no facts..... its like arguing religon
