Smashing Pismo Freeride and Beach Party

I hope to have that question answered by today or tomorrow. The beach up there is 7 miles long. And I am not sure where the FSS comp is in relation to the rest of it. But I will get that answered when I talk to the rangers...

I spent last weekend with JoJo (in a romantic beach house...on the cental coast of oregon....where the crowd of drunks had a macaroni and cheese food fight at 3:00 a.m. I got to clean up the next morning....while my head pounded...LOL!)

Anyways - he tells me the venue for the competition will be located approximately half way between the north and south beach entrance.....and I think since we were a little crowded last year, and we'll have an even larger group this year, I'll stake claim to a large chunk of real estate near Mile Marker 4/Entrance to Sand Highway. The beach is much deeper there, and would afford us equal access to the dunes and well as the surf without everyone getting too spread out. This would mean the competiton and the camp site would be about 3 miles apart.

I've whipped up a map to give you somewhat of a visual....Hope that helps.

Pants..........we don't need no stinkin' PANTS for this gig! They'll just get in the way. I say you all start sporting kilts. Yeah - neoprene kilts!

Been looking into what I'm gonna do for the weekend. I think I'm just gonna drive up early sat morning. Stay all day sat, watch the comp, ride some, have dinner with every body. Then go a hotel room and drive home the next morning.

;) My folks live directly behind the ride site on the bluffs overlooking the dunes and bay....they have two showers, two flushing stations and a full bar. This is the one time I visit per year when I don't stay with them - but I gaurantee I WILL visit their showers/flushing station/bar.

I love them very much ;)

question about the campsite situation

hello guys!
ok so ive been on the boards for awhile but never posted, so this might be kind of a introduction post too.
my name is chris, i have a lightly modded 550sx and i live in napa california.
about 6 months ago i got back into riding ski's, and my interest lies mainly in freeride and surf riding even though ive never been to the surf.

so my question is this...when i make my reservation online and get down there, how do i make sure i get a campsite near eveyone whos riding pwc's?

If I am correct, there are no specific sites on the beach. Its just a beach. Just pitch a tent where everyone else is. See ya in Oct.!

Please forgive me for not responding sooner to your question. Not sure how I missed it.......

Though the camping permit does not designate any specific spot in the overnight use area, we plan to have a VERY WELL DEFINED space for the Smashing Pismo camp site.

We plan on being close to the "Mile 4 Marker" (large, tall posts with mile markers on them at each mile) - this one is at the entrance to the "Sand Highway"....

I am also making arrangements with some of our sponsors (HYDROTURF SkatTrak, Impros, Blowsion etc.) to have banners defining the PWC party/camp area.....

Gerrit from Impros has "volunteered" to create a one-of-a-kind "flag" to fly over our camp site...

And of course - when push comes to shove - I'm pretty sure you'll be able to locate us simply by looking for the huge gaggle of jet skis both on the beach as well as in the surf.

Hope this info helps,

Lisa Price

Does anyone have some info on getting bikes and qauds legal for us out of state people?

I read somewhere that race fuel is available close ,any idea of cost?

Dont really want to haul fuel 1632 miles

PM me with the details of your quads/bikes and I'll see what I can do for obtaining info on legality....though if they're INSIDE a toy hauler when you arrive, then I'd just say avoid the coppers on the beach and play nice/don't get pulled over - you're good to go.

If you'll give me more specifics on type/brand/octane of race fuel, I'll drum up that info and post here as well. I do know they sell Trcik in 5 gallon cans at the beach entrance and at one of the performance shops right there on Grand ave. about 5 minutes from the camp site.

From the State Parks webpage regarding Non-resident OHV permits:

"All vehicles operated off-highway on Public Lands in California are required to be street-licensed or registered as an off-highway vehicle (OHV). If you are visiting California from another state and your vehicle does not have current registration from your home state, you must purchase a California Nonresident OHV Use Permit (sticker) before you go off-roading."

A list of businesses selling Nonresident OHV Use Permits is avialable at:
