talk to gorilla. he has a cheater pipe that he used or still uses on his sj. i believe it was a kawi 650 head pipe and chamber mounted to a factory manifold. some thing like that might fit.

Looks like for now it won't matter. I bought a 650 motor, and I may upgrade in a bit to a small pin 750. So as soon as I get my motormounts im going to set up and glue in the bulkhead.

However knowing htat the FPP 650sx pipe fits in a conversion ski is very helpful... Was thinkin of buying a mariner pipe, but may go for a FPP pipe now.

look up gorilla's cheater 650 pipe on his fx-1 and squarenose.

he utilizes a factory pipe manifold and a stock 650 kawi pipe with the laserman mod to the cooling setup.

he claims it works very well and is hundreds less than a b pipe

That mod has been around quite a while longer than Laserman has been riding standups ,not sure when exacty it became the Laserman mod.:ugh2:

The point is all Laserman did is bring the topic back up and start a new thread, there were threads from way back that the pics got deleted from thanks to PWCT,now if he had done something original like the X2 hull mod known as The Crab mod I could see it,thats not the case here at all though is it?

You can make almost any fit. It helps having a 2 piece pipe so that it can angle a bit at the center section. I believe the early 650 factory pipes were 2 piece, but most of them I've seen are the 1 piece chamber.

Here is a 650 coffmans in a 440 hull, its also been shortened about 1.5" from the pipe belly. This ski was hack job, but it ran pretty good until the throttle got stuck 1/3 open and the ski decided to dock itself.

Ok so bringing this back from the dead. I have the 701 in the 550 hull.

The sj mod is thinner than the sj limited? My blaster mod deffiantely wont fit due to the gas tank, but what are other options? 650 chamber will connect onto the yamaha head pipe right?

How right you are Terry! I had no idea I had been given false credit for this!
(I will take credit for creating a wonderfull thread and a cool diagram:smile:)

I actually got the instructions from CHAD550.

If you look at any aftermarket exhaust system for a Kawi standup, and look at the stock setup, it isn't much of a mental leap to figure out what that extra boss was for in the headpipe.

I think a lot of people would have figured this one out themselves.

I do like the fact that people enjoy my documentation skills. It what I try to do to "give back" what I've gotten from these sites (and these people!)

(you DO sound like it pissed you off a bit.....)

Well I see a few options here. First you could run the blaster chamber and just get a kart gas tank or fab up your own personal gas tank to fit. You could use spacers and rotate the engine about the driveshaft to make clearance... Since this is a custom job, you could also try running the engine closer to the bulkhead and relocating the e-box to the front. I would hope you're running a 701/750 pump in this hull so moving the pump back a couple inches wouldn't be a major deal since mods have to be done to install it in the first place.

From my experience, the FPP head pipes are interchangeable. It's just the chambers that are different from ski to ski.

Well.. I can and I cant do some of those things. The bulkhead is set, so I cant really move the pump anywhere but perhaps 1/4" front to back. I'm using the 140mm kawi pump so naturally a kawi driveshaft as well. Motor is set.

The fpp b pipe fits perfectly, I am still waiting on my fx1 limited chamber to arrive in the mail, but last night i tried using both a PJS 650sx pipe and a stock 650sx pipe. Neither will fit without major denting. The headpipe just puts the exhaust chamber to low, and to close to the bedplate. The 650 has a much flatter bedplate, while the 550 has a steeper angle on the sides.

So it looks like I'm just gonna have to wait for the limited chamber to show up.

Yea unfortunately I'll have to wait.

The ski is sponsored by ACE, Harbor Freight, and Home Depot.

It has a good amount of parts from a

Squarenose superjet (which I originally took from a 61x/62t Waveblaster)

js550 hull

650sx

550sx

and even a tigershark 640.

I'm even using the UMI sj steering on the 550 pole.

LoL. Quite the frankenstein Id say.

Coffman's made a pipe for the 650yamaha that would probably fit. Its similar to the b pipe but thinner. I know where one is. It's on a ski I sold a few years ago. It's sitting on a dock. Very sad. Somone needs to do something with that pipe. Maybe it's you? PM me and we'll talk. I may be able to get it for you.
