Shortening hull - in process

Looking for some ideas on the best way to glass the hull back here...

so far best idea I can think of is glass starting on the inside and glass half way up the angle from the inside... then glass the rest from the outside.... then glass a little bit over the whole thing from the outside...

I'm not planning on cutting my tray up at all....

I'm going to be reinforcing the sides while I'm back there as well...

Watcha think?

If you can foam it first, it will make glassing it soo much easier. I did it that way on my 750 and it was cake. I glassed my SJ first and then poured foam and it was a nightmare...and a lot uglier.

nice... thanks... going to start this tomorrow morning... so if there's any last minute suggestions?

I will foam first..... I am going to try dow blue 2" sheet on the bottom... then fill in above that with 2 part to bridge the gap between the old 2 part and the blue dow.... intall drain plugs on the bottom rear.... at least thats the plan... any comments?

If all else fails I'll just 2 part the whole thing again....

I also will have to move my scupper on the pump side, relocate the 2 rear rideplate bolts forward and cut my exhaust at a 45 degree and glass/5200 that in....

more I'm thinking about this... more i'm leaning towards just putting more 2 part in...... it would be almost hard to put the scupper on the pump side with the blue dow...

Out to the garage to start reinforcing the sides... got all parts to stick the scupper in the pump area.... also going to relocate both rear rideplate bolts today

I wont be able to foam and glass the back in until next weekend... I hate drying time!

Pardon my newb-ness but what will doing this accomplish? What are you expecting to get out of it? I've seen pics of other people doing this, just curious what it's supposed to help?

Thanks,

I would clean the inside of the cut opening down to bare SMC and duct tape the end shut.

Then tilt the ski on the end with the cut portion level to the ground and pour some 3:1 epoxy mixed with micro balloons inside the through the factory foam hole.

After it drys start laying some chop mat glass on the outside and foam the inside with 4-pound or higher.

I am going to do it similar to that... instead- first I'm gonna glass about half way up just using some tape or whatever as backing so I have some glass on the inside... then when that sets up I'm going to tilt the ski forward nose down and pour the foam in and let it expand up... then cut the foam so the shape of the outside contour then glass the whole thing from the outside....

here's some progress pics... back sides both reinforced, scupper moved to inside of pump, and rear rideplate bolts moved forward....

I know I just left my back two rideplate bolts off completely. Adding them back in doesn't really provide that much help and it makes things more difficult and adds one more passage for water ingress. 750's run four rideplate bolts stock...

roundnose runs 4 stock... 2 bolts would prob not be enough.... I moved them forward to keep the 4

Also, more progress pics - made fiberglass exhaust tube and glassed it in... came out really nice, put tape over back about 3/4 of the way up and glassed as much as I could from the inside against the tape, then removed tape- sanded- and glassed over that from the outside.......
