*Sealing Stock Hood Using CAPLUGS* instructions, pics, 100% free install mod

I figured it would be more like a cumulative effect I guess.

You block off the hood holes, but still have a free flowing air system(flame arrestors/screens/etc) you may get away with it.

ok think about it like this.
the order of restriction for the motor is hood, f/a, carb, intake.
you have to deal with these from first to last. example; you can have massive carbs but if your f/a is smaller whats the point in having massive carbs? same applys for the hood.
doesnt matter how good it flows if theres nothing there to flow!

bty i have had big tau ceti's and now i run oe.

if anything a free breathing f/a would make the problem worse because it would consume the air in the engine compartment faster.

Thanks to everyone that posted the stuff on this thread and others about the free caplugs on caplugs.com! One of VERY FEW free mods I have ever had on any of my skis! Thanks... bye bye ducktape! not that there was anything wrong with it...

I did this same mod a couple months ago after reading about it on another thread. I opened up the rear holes a lot, and it works great.

I done the caplugs trick years ago and I opened my rear holes and moved them down even with the linner so that the water that does get in there has a smooth run to flow out of. The rear holes are about 1/4 off of the liner so there is always a layer of water sitting in there.... Plus when your climbing on your ski from the front a larger air hole makes a better handle...

I used a flap wheel on a drill. It was a small one that was wore out so it was only about 3/4 of an inch. I didn't want it to spin too fast. Then hand sanded it smooth.

And I forgot to say that is a great write up. That is what makes this site so great. I don't have the patience to stop in the middle of working to take a picture....

i cant seem to find the 1-1/2 inch plugs anywhere on the site, did they get rid of them??

i bet they took them off
they were prob mad peep kept ordering that size and they had to ship them and never got a order or made any $

it basically a test kit.
i suprised blowsion hasnt mad anything super sano and super $$

It looks like they changed the part number to SI-415 Just search for 1.5 inch non threaded plug. You can find it there.

also helps to seal the hood and hoodliner better i used 5200 last season and now its leaking through again in a spot.
