Surfriding San Diego area riders

Hey fellas. My son is graduating Marine boot camp the end of next week. The 24th. We're going to be messing around all that weekend and was wondering if there's going to be any riding going on. If there is and you guys wouldn't mind a couple spectators, me and the fam would dig on watching some surf riding. PM me if it's not postable.

The place we ride is on the Camp Pendleton Marine base. IS your son graduating from Camp Pendletons boot camp? The reason I ask is because there is No access for the public to the beach were we ride. However since your son is a Marine, If he can get access for you & your family on Camp Pendleton then you could park at Del Mar Beach (Camp Pendletons private military rec beach) and walk north about 1 mile to the spot were we ride on base. I take it you won't have your ski with you?

I've got a spare ski and would be honored to have a newly graduated Marine ride it. I don't get on here all that much but you can email me Ross.Champion at yahoo.

Now THAT is one hell of an offer to go ride with the World Champion in Oceanside....you don't see that :):):):) in Motocross.

Thanks 227. Yes he's at that base and I'll check into it. Looks like we're going to sack up and bring the rn, b1 and wifes couch down with us. We're coming from Reno / Tahoe area. I can't talk to my son til Thursday so I'll be in touch on that. And I talked to this other member this am. Charlie Hustle was his name. Seems like a pretty cool cat lol!

There was about 10 or so stand up paddle guys but they were no where near us. Depending on the swell, Point Loma is a playground.

Your thinking of the "Naval Training Center" (NTC) where they filmed Top Gun. That base has been out for a while now. There is still a submarine base with active duty. However that base is pretty far.

There was quite a bit of kelp out there. We did have fun shoving our hands in the grate area and pulling some stuff out. But regardless of all the mishaps of getting out there, dealing with kelp, we had a great time and I am so glad I was able to experience perfect breaks. Today was biblical.

I am trying to find one for my graduating son. He's 5'10" and maybe 170 lbs. But not an agressive rider. I'm covered and my middle son has a half suit with gloves and helmet. Just out of curiosity, what's the water temp? Kind of wondering if the half suit is enough that the middle kid has.
