So I am riding across the lake and I am going to turn left so I look before turning, and here comes a superjet at full throttle with no one on it , (holy crap ) so I go straight and let it go by then I chase it to the otherside of the lake that damm thing flew 50 feet up the hillside and was stuck between two small tree's, at full throttle bouncing off the rev limiter I could not shut it off by using the kill switch I tried to pull it backward's when I did the pump turned into a chipper/shredder and projected stick's and muskeg into my groin area at a high rate of speed. about that time my buddy brent showed up and was able to get the hood off and pull the plug wires
it appear's that the pole snapped when tanner was doing a trick and he said he fell in and held onto the pole and all the sudden the ski jerked out of his arm's and took off. when the pole broke it pulled the throttle cable at full and also unplugged the kill switch kinda a crappy design if you ask me the kill switches should kill the engine if it comes unplugged . anyway exciting day

yeah me to it seem's like tanner is being followed by the exploded fiberglass god's hopefully his luck will get better I will keep my finger's crossed. he leaves for california tomorrow morning to meet the people at monster energy's corporate office

Yikes, even a lanyard wouldn't have helped in that situation unless it pulled just before the pole broke which is doubtful.

Wear a cup, it could happen again.

Is it ok to laugh since no one got hurt? glad everyone was ok.

I did the same thing in Pensecola on Matt's(x2rags) sn before he re-modded it. I wasn't riding his ski more then 10 seconds when i hit a wave wrong and somehow cracked teh pole (not seriously) which kinked the throttle cable wide open. His ski was so fast i didn't know what happened. Lucky for everyone that the beach was clear and the ski headed toward shore at an angle. But it was pretty spectacular to see, it just happened so fast. I thought for sure i damaged his ski terribly, but it just needed a rn cable which thanks to this super nice Kelly sj rider was only $20 at the ride.

Maybe matt will chime in on this.

Funniest part is that the night before we all made up limiting ropes, and i offered to put one on matt's ski, but he declined....i built him a limiting rope set up the night after this happened.

Most important, no one got hurt.

Next time, you should be running a limiting rope.

that is wild. glad you're ok. I've had skis get away at full throttle a couple times. One didn't have a lanyard & the other was when my lanyard broke off of my hand last year. Thank got the sjs are a little faster than my boat & caught it.

yeah I couldn't agree more. after experiencing this ordeal it sure is something to see a standup go by you that fast with nobody on it kinda reminded me of old submarine torpedo footage lol
