Rule Bilges

Well it seems after every other ride my rule bilges become UNCLIPPED! They don't break, or fall off but atleast one side is 100% unclipped.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm thinking of drilling a lil hole in the top and inserting a close pin to prevent the entire bilge from coming loose and getting torn up.

I uses a very thin (strong and flexilbe) gage wire, from the local hardware store. I did't want to glue it in, per servability later. ...Working out well.

rip them stupid rules out of there and put in a attwood, better yet, put in two... cheaper and work better in my opinion... when I went to walmart last time I bought like 4 of them just so I'll have them hanging in the garage for backups.

i started running two bilges ever since my ski sunk when my GF was towing it behind her ski... all the water coming in the front made the ski nose heavy. the water wasn't pumping out until it reach the back pump... now i have a pump in front of the engine, so maybe if that happens again, the water will exit sooner and not fill the engine compartment as fast.

I have 1 RULE (came on ski) and 2 atwoods on the way.

I plan to run 3, 2 in the rear 1 between engine and gas tank... I know a lot of ppl say the one up front is useless but I let a lot of other ppl ride and when it sits near the beach, floats near boats, etc... for an extra 1lb it's worth it for me to be on the safe side :D

i run 1 rule 1100 gph bilge and have it zip tied in place. i cut the coupler cover to accomodate the large pump and with the zip ties it doesn't move at all... it also pumps the water out super fast through the 1" id hose...

i wouldn't say it is useless... i see water come out of the front one all the time when riding... especially if you are just floating taking a break, the front of the ski sits in the water deeper than the back... it picks up that little bit of water that comes in through the dump tube coming out the back...

but its kinda funny, I've been in mid air doing a nose stab and have seen water spit from my front bilge pump when the ski is on it's descent going nose first in the water...

i only run one in the back b/c I like to keep the stock bilge in for redundancy and there isn't much room for 2 attwoods and the stock bilge back there.

Good to know. I plan to keep the front on a separate switch too, and use it exactly as described when sitting.

On my white SN with the blowsion dual rule bilge mount it retains the stock bilge and it works great. At almost $100, and a PITA to install w/engine in, and forces you to use RULE mounts... not going with it on other skis.

Rulemate 750 or 1100. Don't glue it in, just zip tie it in place with some turf under it....

with my bilge pumps... i use clear rtv/silcone... I know most would say not to use it b/c if you get gas in your engine compartment it will start to eat away the silicone... but I have split gas in my engine compartment and it has not been a problem... I like RTV b/c it kinda "gives" a little, and acts like a cushion for the pump... and on my last hul,l when tried to rip the pump out, I couldn't... I had to pry it out with a screw drivers... That sucker was in there good.

zip tie it to what?

i put two long zip ties around the pump, one through the clips toward the bottom and one just below the wires toward the top. then I use to longer zip ties... one to connect the zip ties on the pump to the bulkhead bolt at the bottom of the ski... near the intermediate housing... and another one to thebed plate where the coupler cover bolts... the two opposing zip ties hold the pump from moving anywhere... up down forward backward side to side... it's cool... has just enough play to not break.

Broke 2 of the 3 clips off an atwood today, the ones used to hold it on when you twist lock it in place. The base is still firmly 5200'd to the hull. I plan to use the 3rd clip + 5200 to seriously mount that bastard in place, if it dies i'll break the plastic off since the base is already 5200'd to the hull.

I hope it still works is seriously scuffed up from bouncing around.

So between my skis 3 rules still holding on, 1 rule has a loose clip (soon to be 5200'd) and 1 atwood broke :frown:!

The Atwood that came in my FX1 would no longer stay in the bracket. We usually safety wire the Rules into the bracket which is siliconed into the hull. No problems since we started doing the safety wire. One wire on each side through the basket and through the loop that the basket tabs go through.
