There was some guy on PWCToday that had pictures of rolls on a hopped up 650. He claimed he did it all the time. (Off boat wakes)

Fuzzy aka Crig Boyd used to do some insane stuff in the surf on his 650sx...
That is the great thing about surfriding...you are not limited by your equipment.

Great, thats what I wanted to hear. My boats run strong and are set up for surf action, now its the old "no guts, no glory" attitude that must endure. Paul sent me some decals to "represent" Maggo's and I need to do them justice. I might go SJ next year, but the wife will kill me if I bring home another boat right now(5).

crab, how does your 650 handle with those rear sponsons?
Hey cookerq62, glad you asked. I got those sent to me by Mudphish, I wanted to try and add extra stability for heavy surf riding. As you might know, Superjets are designed for a more stable ride than the Kawi's ever were. That given, they help just give me a more forgiving ride in the ocean than without them. You really never get up enough speed for them to affect handling in a bad way, they just help keep you on the boat longer (note they are parallel to the hull, unlike on a 550). If I rode at the lake all the time I would just take them back off. Surfs up! They'll be right under my footholds soon.

oh yeah, didn't I say I was going to give you a set of sponsons? I'm guessing you don't want them now, but I got em, and they are still yours if you do...BTW one side has a little hack in it, nothing bad though...

the 650sx was my first ski back in the day (2 years ago  ) I loved that thing. I am still working on flat rolling but I came close a couple of times on the 650 with a pipe, head, 24/7 footholds and a 46mm carb. I don't know why but I kept sliding out of the holds but it is doable. Man I was wearing that **** out  I thrashed that ski within a year.........that ski was fun. Poked a hole in the front of it, almost sank it numerous times, cracked the hood (and almost ribs) b/c I tried a big throw off a boat wave and t-boned the thing when it hit the water.............ahh good times.

Crab,
You can Roll and Back flip a 650... I did it on a reallly really heavy 750 with years of engine beating. your 650 is probly faster. But I still got the thing upside down bone stock (w/ footholds). If theres a will theres a Way !

Thanks Pete, I'm going ballistic when we get to Westport on May 6&7. The only thing I really worry about it messing up my neck. I'm takeing the X2 and the SX, so if I f... up one boat I can still ride the other. I actually like the X2 more when jumping, it has more control with the wide foot stance.

I've seen a stock 650 rolled in Westport with only lifters, no foot wells.
It can be done.
I have seen that great paintwork on the ski, wow!!! I saw your post earlier this year over at JSN, you should bring a boat down next weekend and join the fun. I know we will be at Halfmoon bay, but not sure exactly where that is. Link to the freeride: http://www.pwctoday.com/showthread.php?t=70518

Rolls on 650sx

I ride with a guy that use to ride a 650 with lifters about 5 yrs ago and use to roll it on flat water all the time off his own set-up wake.

I also ride with a guy that pulls off huge rolls in surf and I'm pretty sure he was doing flat water rolls also with an old 550 that is re-inforced with riveted on aluminum plate. Pretty ugly looking and probably 40LB heavier than it should be.

I don't know if the 550 is any easier to ride than a 650 because of it's weight and size but it looks impressive when the guy on the 550 is going bigger than all the SJs and Kawi 750s in the waves.
