RN shave fuel cap????

I am starting a RN build. One thing I have been trying to decide is whether or not to shave the fuel cap.
If I do, I am debating going through the work of glassing it or just slapping a blowsion block of kit on there before I paint it.

Any input?

Thanks, Chad

what? its actually a good time to take a quick engine check after some hard riding, might find a loose battery strap or loose flame arrestor...etc

I agree that it improves the looks, but having to take the hood off to fill up and risk spilling fuel into the bilge is why I would not do it. If you have a spark from a bad wire or plug cap it could ignite and viola you have a nice ski roast on your hands. Not worth it IMO.

if your getting nice paint, then yes.

I'd like to here what the cop says when you pull the registration from the gas filler 0_0

I thought that too. It would be funny to open up the gas cap and grab the registration!
On my square nose I have a solid nose piece and have a under the hood filler. I have scratched the hood lip up pretty bad over the years from resting the gas can on it.
Another nice thing about having under the hood filler is tank removal.
If I block it off, part of me is just leaning toward the blowsion block off kit so i don't have to do the glass work. I have done some glass work in the past, but it just looks like a pain.

I think it's a dumb mod & I wish my hull had not already had it done.
The only real advantage is easier to R&R the tank w/o having to mess with the filler neck.

The trick is to not have to pull a fuel tank.

I.e., don't wrench on your ski.

That's hillarious coming from me, of all people.

This is true bro.. I am glad I shaved mine. People like KEEFER are just lazy and LAME TOO LOL:poke:. I take the hood off my boat to fuel anyway so I can see when its close to full.

Filling it is a FS mod so you dont get hung up on it spinning around on the hood/nose or climbing up on the nose from the water...... If you dont do any of these tricks then you dont need it unless you like the looks........... I personally like it done for both reasons.

I have seen a couple (including Andy's) that have the Blowsion filler cover and the paint reacted with the cover material giving it a coarse orange peel texture.
