Filling it is a FS mod so you dont get hung up on it spinning around on the hood/nose or climbing up on the nose from the water...... If you dont do any of these tricks then you dont need it unless you like the looks........... I personally like it done for both reasons.

I didnt feel like glassing the hole closed so I just had the local machine shop cut me a round piece of 1/8" aluminum($12) and I wet sanded and polished it up and used side rail Yamaha sitdown starhead SS screws. I think it looks like those polished fuel door/cap assy. peeps put on there cars and trucks. I like it and its somethting different anyways..

superjet-113 thats a good idea.. looks pretty sweet too. if i do myn it will have to bo gold platted fo sho... but really thats a good idea....

Thanks, I like it too and you just use the rubber seal from the filler for the template for drilling and of course sealing it between to the hull..

Gold plating you say... Hmm Gold might look good on mine too! Wonder how much that would cost.

"Hey man check out my new fuel grill!" :djsmilie:

shave it, looks better and its not a lot of work really...

just take your time, do it in stages and you won't get bored of sanding it.

Kinda funny how it's safer to fill it in, yet that is technically illegal for Am class freestyle. Those rules make a ton of sense.

I love how these projects always start out small and keep growing. I will probably end up doing it since I like that clean look.
I will post some pictures in a few months when it all starts coming together.
