Just want to get some opinions before I turf over these things. This is how my install has gone thus far.

Cut and fitted the holds and the hull best I could, roughed up all surfaces and cleaned them all. Mixed up some epoxy resin and a bit of filler and bonded the holds to the hull (there was a 3"x3" area above the toe section that was flat and mated to the hull nice) then used screws to hold them in while that dried. After it dried I poured foam in behind the hold to fill all voids and expand out of the big air gaps the holds had between the hull (they dont fit the best) that was my new base for laying glass over. I pulled out the screws then mixed up some resin and filler and feathered out all the edges on all mating surfaces. Let that dry and resanded it all. Then I cut up some 8.7oz 3" tape for all the seams. I layed 1 layer around the part that was bonded to the hull (more for asthetics when turfing than strength because the epoxy I glued it in with set up SUPER strong. I layed 2 layers over all the other surfaces and then layed a sheet of 1208 biax between the holds (which also went into the bottom of the holds) I just want to make sure this will be strong enough, just lake riding, nothing crazy.

Does 2 layers of glass sound like enough over the top and on the back portion? Putting the foam in behind it turned out to be an AWESOME way to do it and make laying glass a breeze!!

Yea I put the foam in first also and I thought it really helped. I think 2 layers is enough. That is what we used also but I am no expert.

Allright, I guess I was just looking for a reason to worry about it because the install went so much easier than I thought it would...It 2 layers didnt seem very think and I worried about breaking it on a hard fall or something.

I did the same with the epoxy and foam and it worked great. I used two layers of glass then sanded the edges. Oxnard111 helped out with the padding last night and tonight we are going to do the turf.

Yours looks very similar to mine...I like the foam job. I have been debating on if I want to foam like that or not. I plan on riding with a wakeskate shoe most likely or a thicker shoe so I want to figure out fitment first.

Just got done doing the sides on Geoff's (bluegtate) ski. Gonna do the bottom and dash tomorrow.

Couple little mess ups. For the both of us this is the third ski we have turfed, and both previous jobs were done with pre-cut templates. This time no template, just used the same method as onesojoruner. His tips worked out great.

And there's a picture of the turf queen.

We started to turf mine last night, got one side done almost seamless, we had to put one seam in on the top/rear corner of the gunwale. We got the other side about 50% done then started to run into problems around the hold and had to tear that one all out. Hopefully we will get that side done today.

Turfing is such a pain man!!! Even more so on these REVS with enclosures.

I guess practice will make perfect.

We are about to rip a side off of one we just did too.

Between Geoff, you and I, we'll get it done and make it look nice. Get it prepped and padded, and we could get it done in one long night.

i want to pad out the top of my gunwhales but i dont know how to finish it cleanly w/ the padding...it will be taller than the lip so i think it will just keep blowing off....there is no way to get it to sit flush with the top of the lip i guess i could wrap it over the rails like a rn...i need to decide if i am gonna cut out my footwells and box the tray so i can put my straps where i need em....i think i should wait till i move into the rn cause if my foam is wet im not gonna glass over it without refoaming...im over rolling in the footwells....i flew out a couple times last weekend and it almost got real ugly...now i just need to learn to br surfstance...also i cant visualize myself bfing in the footwells...i think i gotta have a foot forward..
