I have a used cylinder where all the head bolt holes have been helicoiled, and some are rotating when I go to tighten or remove the bolts.:banghead: What's the best insert to replace these (remember the holes are tapped for helicoils already). Timecerts?

Who has the best price on a kit?

TIA.

What is the difference with timeserts , I have helicoils and know how they work. are they that much better that i should buy them even though i have lots of helicoils.
Is a timesert a solid piece. Maybe it is similar to our keenserts at work accept the are steel. solid piece with 4 tabs on top to drive down and lock in
Yes/No

You can get the time sert in stainless steel for one. The other advantage is that they are a solid piece of metal not a coil like helicoils (a lot stronger IMHO). I bought a 6 mm and 8mm kit years ago and I use them all the time. One you make the initial investment the refill kits are pretty cheap

i have never used a timesert so i can coment on them . i have never had a problem with helicoils. as long as they are installed right you never will.
