Removing engine coupler

Best way to remove the coupler on the engine?

flywheel holder, cold fusion has one. Heat helps but dont burn the seals unless you plan on replacing.

Rope down the sparkplug hole works in a pinch, but could also damage junk

Coupler loosens to the left.

Only impeller is reverse thread on a yami ski.

It isnt a puller it is a flywheel locking tool so you dont have to "rope" your pistons.

Its one of those tools you didnt know you needed untill you have one. I used rope for years on stock motors and saw a CF puller for dirt cheap used. I didn't relies how often I that tool comes in handy. Well worth the reduced frustration

rope trick works very well...I call my rope Piston McStoppy. Nice to have the proper tools for the proper job as well...

Simple coupler tool on impact wrench is all you need...fancy stuff above is optional imo.

Fancy stuff works awesome for flywheel torque down too. The rope trick makes me nervous. Wish I had a coupler removal tool for the impact though. But in the end ya do what ya gotta do to get it wet.

Rope works fine as long as you know how to do it...key is knowing how far below TDC to go without opening up ports and getting the rope
stuck in there

Of course it is optional, but it is awesome for flywheel installation as well.

The rope trick started making me nervous I would bend a rod when I started spending money on motors.

Get the cylinder on the up stroke...shove the rope in and let it tighten...easy enough. I have lightly modded motors though so it doesn't bother me to use it.

If I had say $5K or higher invested in a motor...I would probably own the proper tools to be able to tear it down and build it. It's all relative.

I would hope my billet crank could hold up to the ol "rope" as well as a stock crank. That being said, the CF flywheel holder is the way to go. My coupler removal tool is beat to crap from my impact lol.
