Reed Spacers

You won't get any more bottom end from a reed spacer plate because it just adds more case volume.

There only used for installing longer reed cages and flame arrestor clearance issues.

OK thanks guys. I was thinking the added case volume would aid low RPM cylinder filling. I will cross that off the mod list.

I was told they reduce turbulence in the air by moving the manifold away from the reeds giving your reeds longer life... It would probably give you better throttle responce... not sure

I had to get one to allow my flame arrestors to clear my head. The one I have goes around the cages so they are still the same distance from the manifold. Couldn't say if it helped performance or not, it's only been in the water for an hour and they're new/different carbs.

Part of the point of the reed spacer is to move the reeds away from the crank/cases - so yes, they'd be the same distance from the manifold.

If you have ported cases the angled spacer plates work great with extended reed cages like the boysen rad valves.

Also reed spacer plates move the pedals further back from crank turbulence which helps from chipping carbon reeds unless you're using longer cages.

I use it as a spacer for carb clearance only. If there's a difference in throttle response or whatever, I certainly can't feel it.

You will lose some throttle response due to the extra case volume but if you build some epoxy ramps under the reed cages it will help in getting some of the hit back.

why would the angled one be any better....i guess it would level out the carbs but would that make any difference?
It angles the reed pedals closer to the boost port and transfer ports for a faster air/fuel charge when using extended length cages with ported cases.
