ok, I know the top portion of the hpole on an fx is different than a SJ......
does that mean the chinpad is specific too?

A chinpad from a round nose will fit fine, but don't expect a Blowsion Carbon Fiber chin pad to fit. I learned that the hard way. I could have made it fit by either grinding some areas but then weakening the upper unit, or if I could have had a small tab welded in an extended position for the main chin pad mounting hardware.
On the carbons Blowsion uses spacers at the 2 mounting points to lift the pad up so it clears the bars

That is true, but only for a RN pole. The top piece of a FX-1 pole is shorter. The blowsion chin pad wouldn't fit b/c a) the mounting hardware locations on the pole and the chin pad did not line up (the chin pad holes are spaced wider than those on the chinpad), b) the chin pad was too skinny for the bottom section of the bracket on the FX-1 pole.
