Pump Shoe Removal

Are you using an alum shoe or another plastic stocker??

If the chips do not go down to the glass fibre I would suggest just using copious amounts of marine-grade silicon sealer.

If you use 5200 you might have a really hard time getting that shoe out (if you ever have to).

I wested my stocker in flush with the hull. You cant even tell it's a seperate part now. Is there any down side to that?

Can it break though? I wested the entire thing in....everywhere. I even wested the back side in and covered the 4 screws that originally held it "in". I also put a layer of west over the whole thing inside and out and sanded it really smooth. I wonder if that sucker will ever come out again.:aargh4:

The only problem you may ever have is if you strip a thread installing the intake grate.

you'll love that JD aluminum pump shoe. the ski hooks up insane with that shoe. the nice part is you can still unhook it if you want, but when you go into a solid 70 degree bank it'll stay glued man.

I dunno, I'd say silicone over the 5200 in case you ever have to get it out again. Ollie and WD chiseled mine out of the B1 last year and note the chisel...as it was installed with some green marine glue ********e. It was not a pleasant experience. If you can spare the taking out of some glass etc and destruction.... do the silicone spoo. Just my 2 cents...

mine was green glued in too... took about an hour and a half to get out. i was trying to be careful. it really wasnt that bad.. maybe i just got lucky? i heard the horror stories of people doing all kinds of fiberglass damage when pulling the shoe out. last thing i wanted to do was a bunch of fiberglass repairs. my days of fiberglass work for fun are long gone. i just want to ride the bitch till the handlepole falls off.

i was gonna go the 5200 route.

wax, tell me more about this xft alloy shoe.. i'm interested... is it pricey like the r&d one?

I hear ya Saki... BTW, I did the Blowsion aluminum one... it was $80 something. Not too bad compared to some of the other higher priced (alum) ones on the market.
