Pump Shoe Removal

mine was green glued in too... took about an hour and a half to get out. i was trying to be careful. it really wasnt that bad.. maybe i just got lucky? i heard the horror stories of people doing all kinds of fiberglass damage when pulling the shoe out. last thing i wanted to do was a bunch of fiberglass repairs. my days of fiberglass work for fun are long gone. i just want to ride the bitch till the handlepole falls off.

i was gonna go the 5200 route.

wax, tell me more about this xft alloy shoe.. i'm interested... is it pricey like the r&d one?

seriously? i have removed 3 of them, none took more than 10 mins? 1 was siliconed in, and believe it or not...that was the one that took the longest..

well.. yeah.. thinking back on last night, the shoe came out in 10 mins.. then i spent the rest of the time cleaning up the mating surfaces.. so, basically 1.5 hours to remove the old shoe and prep the surfaces for the new shoe..

good call idok. so, figure a whoel pump shoe job (minus the drying time for whatever glue/silicone you put on there) shouldnt take more than 2-3 hours.

sound about right?

yeah, if it gets messy.........I did one whole swap in like 45 the first time...but evertying came out clean, and lined up perfect......pretty much guarantee that'll never happen again...
