Pipe to water box exhaust hose?

well i fired up the ole superjet this am for the hell of it in the garage ( since it's a whole 54 degrees today) so no riding here

anyhow while doing so i saw a couple times with each rev a flash from up by the water box.

seems there is a hole in the elbow hose btween the pipe and the water box.
damn.

anyhow is this the chicken of the egg i wonder. did this cause the hole or is this happening because of the hole?
and if not what would a could cause for an exhaust backfire be on a two stroke:banghead:

i am guessing carburation? is this a rich thing?

it wasn't there when i did the last rebuild ( july i think) and it's pretty big
i would prolly be running really bad and have a bunch of exhaust gunk all over the innards
i thinks it's fairly new

Exactly. You would have been choking on the way in an your last ride and it would be nasty in there. Probably just happened and probably just coincidence.

need to get a replacement. anyone know if there is an auto parts store equiv. that will work like a radiator hose or something?

well autozone had nothing, this may prove to be harder to get locally than i thought

goto a real parts store, a napa, or other old school, type auto parts store.

they will have lots of the hose hanging on a wall in the back.

napa's are becoming increasingly rare around here, maybe carquest will have it

napa has come thru
and to boot the hose i got has a 45 at both ends .
so for 22 bux i have a new hose and a spare
