I need to know also, I was looking at marine polyurethane from West Marine, the drawback is the slow drying time. 4hr to tack free.

the best is still imron by dupont

I have to agree. I have painted a few skis and Imron is super tough and holds up well. Another nice aspect is that it is a single stage paint, so you dont have to worry about laying clear coats down after applying color. The only negative aspect is that you are limited on your color choices.

I use house of Kolors paint and their epoxy primer, Lots of cool colors. I used a thicker high solids clear coat and it has held up really well for me. Heres a link to the clear... http://coastairbrush.com/products.asp?cat=168
I purchased it all from http://www.coastairbrush.com . They have a really cool airbrush store in Anaheim and they even have a couple bada$$ custom airbrushed 550's...

i use house of kolors for the candys and some others i started using southern polyurethanes products recently with great success everything they have is awesome and alittle more user friendly and customer service is #1 http://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/

Have you used the single stage from this company?

I'm getting ready to tear apart my SN/SJ and I would l8ike a nice single stage black to work with (First paint job myself).:purr:

I think Imron has limited color choices, but is a really durable industrial coating (I used it on the frame of a LandCruiser that I am restoring. It is also REALLY hazardous and you should use a fesh air supplied respirator with it

If you are doing multiple colors, a basecoat-clearcoat system will be best at hiding the ridges from tape lines but is a little more fussy to work with than a single stage paint. Most clear coats use isocyanates and are also very hazardous to where you should use fresh air supplied respirators. The charcoal filters won't cut it.

edit: you have a guy to spray, so the respirator thing shouldn't be an issue for you....
