The only possible legitimate reason I can think of is that he may be running a rear mounted waterbox since it's a blaster. A lot of racers have set up their boats like that.

i bought my blaster off a guy that used to race and it had a factory drypipe /no waterbox just running though a resonator , I ran it like that for about 3 months but like others have said its was so loud that it just gave you a headache . i ripped it out and replaced it with a b pipe and a waterbox setup .

My buddy has an old 750 race kawi with no waterbox. It is painful to listen to and dies when you land it tail first. It also never wants to start.
