anyone else ever chased down a rider (couch or stand up) to tell them to quit being a douche and making problems for the rest of us?

I've done it a few times.

I have chased down a bassboat.. well, he stopped, I would NOT have caught up to him obviously..
he about ran over my wife when she was riding my old 750sx.

he got mouthy, he didnt realize I had seen what happened, so he was lying about her bothering him while fishing.

so I called him a liar, and offered to gently thrust my 7 foot long 300 lb torpedo of fiberglass into his fat ass.

he left.

I had a dipshiat on a sitdown trying to spray me and my wife and kids in our ski boat once, he woudl follow us around, and then do the head straight for us and spin at the last minute thing.

he kept waving like we though he was cool.

I finally, completely stopped the boat, shut it off, and motioned him over.

when he came over I politely asked him to please remain at least 200 feet from my vessle, as per the state law.. I also called him an idiot, and mentioned something about his mother having herpes.

i had a few words with boaters before, but not skiers there arent to many of them here

yes... I told a skier and a boater to get the ******** off the water one day at Matanzas Inlet.. They collided then proceeded to come about 10ft from swimmers doing 30mph.... I chased them down on my ski and told them to pack it up and get out... It was like some 18 year old kid w/ no boating knowledge at all in the boat and a 20 year old kid on the couch...

I said directly to the kid on the boat... "You know nothing about boating and do not belong out here", he said: "yes, I know, I shouldn't be out here" and left...

It was that easy... imagine that???

hahahahahaha.

I've had some weird encounters confronting people on the lake. But I think it's better for US to try to self police that to let the law get ahold of these guys and further the stereotype.

i did have an asshat last year that kept circling my boat on a wr500 while i was anchored and my bud was on the swim platform with his hood off working on his ski. everytime he came around it about swamped the ski and mine was tied at the front so i had to hang off the front and hold it so it didnt smash my boat. i asked the dude nicely to stop and why he kept it up like ten more times so i told him i would well you know and he decided to get mouthy. i was kind of in a hard spot cause i am 24 and he was 17 otherwise there probably would have been a beating.

mind you we where in the back of a calm bay by our selfs till this started that day. its a big lake he didnt have to bug us

My son, cousin, and sister were riding standups in our cove last year, a guy from ACROSS the lake came over and asked me if I would have them stop, since he was working on his dock and the waves were moving his dock.

this is a large expanse of water, I was VERY nice, and asked if he was sure it was waves from those jet skis, and he said he had been watching and timing the waves, and was sure.

so I wranlged all of them up, told them to ride at a different area, and then noticed the guy came out of his dock, on one of those older natique or some other fixed stern drive ski boats, causing one HELL of a rolling wake, he procceeded to go back and forth pulling a guy learning to ski.

thos ewaves were knocking stuff off of our floating dock.

needless to say, I wont bow to that dikheads whims any more.

I've tried to figure out if they know their names by calling them... not sure they are smart enough or able to distinguish verbal things... I know they hear and distinguish sounds, cause the refrigerator and any plastic bag will get them squeaking like crazy... What's your understanding of their intellect???

They are more than capable of learning their names, they are very food motivated animals. The fridge and plastic bag means food is coming. Save a particular treat that you give them only when you say their name. Say their name, give that treat. Pretty soon they'll start whistling for the treat every time you say their name.

If you keep some of those treats beside their cage so it might come out of the blue (in piggy terms) at any time, they will pay attention when you approach their cage. Don't give that favorite treat unless you have said their name or they will whistle every time you approach their cage, not just respond to their name. The reward is ONLY when they respond to their name. You can eventually work that to where they get the treat only when they come to you - work with them out of the cage, walk across the room with the treats, say their name and they come.

Eventually, you start giving the treats sporadically, gradually reducing the percentage of times you give a food treat in response to them coming to you. This part may not work as well with cavies since they are not as motivated by praise/petting as other animals are. You may have to give treats at least 50-60% of the time to keep them coming to you.

Give it a try and let me know how it comes out.

I've done it a few times.

I've done it several times. Once we had a sweet wake going, guy in about a 35' or so was laying it down for us and this sitdown was taking turns with us fairly well, but coming too close to the boat. The boat finally just stopped. I chased down that sitdown and explained how it is and isn't done. After that, the boat actually started again and was laying it down for us again. Giving us thumbs up, etc. Apparently he figured out what I did and was all good with it! Even kept going when the sit down guy showed up again and stayed back from the boat.

mine used to do that squeaking noise when ever you said his name, but never got him to follow me.

Yeah, that's a bit tougher. Takes a lot of patience and time and taking it in baby steps. Make them come a few inches, then more, then a couple feet, then more, etc.

Oh, and don't bother with hand signals, they are very near sighted.
