Here are the pics. Ultra-light compared to OEM. Smaller, holds less water (less weight in nose), built-in Tee for front exhaust (you can cap it off if you don't have the front exhaust). Wrapped with Hydro-turf for additional silencing. I can't wait for the warm weather here in NJ to try this out (we have sleet/snow today).

I got mine with a bunch of stuff all at once so not sure (I can't help coming out of his place with a lighter wallet, but heavier on parts). It's in the ballpark of $200. Not too bad if you're looking to lose weight and add a front exhaust.

From what Pat stated, it was quite a bit quieter than the one he rode with at Daytona. He started it up for me dry and it was louder than stock, but only a bit, and remember, there was no water running through it. It does have at least three baffles in it I don't think the FP one is that much different from stock, so I would guess that it is as loud as, or louder than that.

The point here is not to be loud, as I agree that is annoying to both the rider and anyone on the water. If it still turns out to be too loud, I might put a water injector on the outlet side.

Will this effect anything. I'm considering doing it to my TDR cuz' I'm sick of being the loudest ski. My TDR sounds about like the box he was running in Daytona.

It should help a little. I was bench-racing with crammit442 and he mentioned that he has done it before to other waterboxes and seen noise reduction.

Nothing for nothing, do it, tee off your exhaust water, and if it doesn't help you can just leave it, or put a cap on it.

I already bored out the stinger a little that seemed to help but an extra water in on the box out would really shut that thing the hell up I bet. :aargh4:

Install a water injection sprayer AFTER the waterbox. On the downstream side. It will mist the outgoing exhaust w/o adding water to the box. Makes the box noticeably quieter.:wink:

That's what I meant. It's just the sprayer from an ECWI setup. No electonics. It's downstream of the waterbox so there is no added water there. I just T'd into a pisser line w/a 3/8 x 3/8 x 1/4 T and fed it from that. Make sense?

Yes totally.So the sprayer just supplies a constant mist into the final aluminum outbound pipe. That will work really nice I bet.

Who sells just the sprayer?

Does anyone know if this has been dyno-tested?

I remember talking to Steve George from Jetcraft back in the mid-90's when he was building Turbomuffs and he was still trying to find a way to make a resonator type silencer that made more hp than the oem Yamaha boxes and he couldn't. During the '95 World Finals he had a couple of test riders using a huge version of his Turbomuff because he said the big volume was the only thing that worked on Yamahas, but he never produced those due to other side effects.

Anyway, I'd sure like to see some test results because it does look nice.

Hey, do not mock the Turbomuff, that was the best silencer ever built for 440/550's and 750's. Lightweight, freeflowing, and quiet with a deep tone, not tinny at all. I had them in both my 550 and 750 back in the day. It's too bad Steve George passed away, he was a real asset to the sport.
