new plug wires

I found a broken wire today and i was going to order a set of msd wires but when taking my electrical box apart how would i go about connecting them to the coil?

Easy to replace you just need to make a tool that digs out the old wire in the coil. Takes about 60 seconds for both wires.

JSS does great work, and is a great option if you dont want to mess with it.

Its easy though, not much to it.

wire is shoved down into the coil.

the cavity(s) in the coil have a pointy 'spike' sticking up that makes the electrical connection. ( this is the hard part to clean around, and makes you realize how a tool lile Mark44 posted is handy)

then ad some epoxy to the joint between wire and coil body.

okay thanks i was able to cut back some on the wire past the break but on the boot there is what looks to be a screw were the wire goes into. Do the plug wire boots just screw onto the wires? the boots are not stock they are NGK

cut the wire clean and "screw" the boots back on, then tie tight with a zip tie.

I made one of these tools the other night out of an old touch up paint gun,it literally took a couple of minutes to make the tool and then a couple of minutes each on the two coil wires,I used a small pair of hemostats to pull out some of the remaining wire insulator.I then installed the new wire onto the coil spike and mixed up some epoxy resin,I kind of pushed the wire to one side and dribbled some epoxy into it going all the way around the wire till it had enough epoxy to hold it in place. This is a really a pretty easy fix and not worth what JSS charges IMHO.

Just use a piece of metal tube and make it 8mm in diameter with some saw teeth on one end.

You'll have to be real carful not to cut too deep or the electrical pin connections will be damaged inside the coil.

I made a hollow stepped cutting bit to use with a power drill so it would only cut down to a predetermined depth and the remaining spark plug wire can easily be pushed out of the tool.

How did I KNOW that you would chime in with the best solution. Are you a machinist by trade? Engineer? Inventor? You need to set up a website. You could make some serious coin with your talent and attention to detail.

All the above and I'll have to sell some of those tools on a web site with a few other products soon. :sneaky:
