maybe I"m confused, but you have to rev it up to achieve the highest rpm right?

NO you are tuning so you turn out your mixture screws to achieve max rpm if you keep going up in rpm with mixture screws out 1 1/2 or 2 turns depending on carb type you jet up until you max out on rpm you do nothing with the throttle or idle set screw. After max rpm is achieved with mixture screws set desired idle with idle screw.

There is no BRAP involved in tuning, thats just for fun after its tuned.

I guess I"m not following... In order to get the ski tuned to the max rpm, it has to be running right? and it has to be able to rev in order to achieve highest rpm right?

Yep you are a little lost.
You adjust the mixture screws to get the idle up this is not the max RPM with the throttle pulled but with the mixture screws only does that make sense?

Yes motor is running on the trailer in the water at idle then adjust mixture screws only and watch tachometer rpm's increase.

RPM will not increase when the proper air fuel mixture is achieved. But if you start out and it doesn't increase you need to jet down till you can adjust idle mixture RPM.

You can also do the high speed adjustments by RPM readings while riding at full throttle and watching tachometer. Take a run then come in and adjust them out till you achieve max throttle RPM on your next runs or do it on the trailer but its a big load on the bow stop of the trailer.

You can also tie a rope to a tree and the back of the ski if you wish but I still prefer taking the ski out on the water and coming back to adjust. It just takes a little longer this way and be careful not to get the meter wet.

ya, that makes more sense now! I thought you were tuning the high speed, in which it be full throttle runs..

so your saying adjust the low speed screw for max rpms at idle speeds? I would assume you keep turning them out till the ski starts to loose rpms?

Correct, when it stop gaining RPM's and starts loosing you have gone to fare.
Same on the high speed circuit.

If I need correcting on any of this please chime in.

Don't feel bad for not doing it this way I know people with tons of money in there motors and they still don't know how to do this or take the time to do it properly.

I will never understand why?
