these things are slow guys... don't expect updates every day... Lisa will let us know when thing progress for him....

Hi Gang,

Initially, we were getting daily updates, but it's slowed down quite a bit, so as soon as I get anything, I post it here, at pwctoday and on Joe's site...but will most likely just maintain Joe's site from this point forward.

I have a ton on my plate in the way of soliciting donations for the raffle for the April freeride/race in Pismo, we're working on moving forward with the 2nd Annual Surf Slam in Pismo in October - it's the very least we can do to honor Joe - and there's this thing called my job - dirty bassturd's actually expect me to be productive - can you imagine? LOL!

Anyway, this is the most recent info - as I said, please peruse Joe's site for future updates. I'll do what I can here, but can only do so much.

Thanks,
LP

Joe is steadily improving. Today I read some of the posts and he wanted his phone or email for replies, told me what to write, quite complimentary of all. He remains in the ICU but has no IV lines, just a monitor to keep an eye on his vital signs, which look great. No definitive answers on his final prognosis though. He is ready to be moved to a rehab facility but I am having some difficulty getting him admitted, Medi-cal considers him too rehabilitated to qualify, but still trying. Visitation is still difficult at present...

Thanks Lisa, those pesky jobs ALWAYS get in the way don't they?

Medi-cal considers him too rehabilitated to qualify

I think that is great news in itself! right? I mean its gotta be better than if they let him in the door right away...?

Dude...California is SO screwed up...In my personal opinion, he's not gotten the care he deserves due to his insurance situation. Again, IMHO, If he were an illegal alien, he would have been completely squared away. Total BS. Joe doesn't derserve ANY of this. Poor guy.

Um. None of us do. You are 100% right! He would be treated amazingly well with NO OBLIGATION to pay it back!!!!

I, and many others I know, filed bankruptcy mainly over medical debt.

USA all the way. Unless of course you can move to Canada.

Joe should have dual citizenship.

I would think riding a 440 with sloppy steering would make for good physical and balance therapy.

What I want to know is why is a guy like him without medical insurance? I would think he definetely should have it being he pushes the limits on the water constantly.

Yeah it frickin' expensive, unless your wife works for the feds. . . If Kara wasn't employed by the USDA then we probably wouldn't have it. We would have a HSA and an insurance policy with a HUGE deductable. Even then it's fairly expensive.

Have you seen the cost of medical insurance lately?

Yes, sure have. I've never been without insurance. In all honestly, I wouldn't leave home without it. It's a risk just driving to the grocery store if you don't have insurance. If you can afford the sport of jetskiing, you should be able to afford the insurance.
