Its got a carbon hood, glassed in tubs, fuel filler block off and internal fill, b2 steering cable, 6mm ends, kp pole and bracket and OVP, JM waterbox, b pipe with ported manifold, ada head, msd, little bit of everything, and the salt and pepper. I mostly like sliding around and carving with a fat d cut plate.

The question mostly, is there any reason I cant use pex through the tray for a 1/2” cooling line? My friend is a plumber and we both think it’s probably better. Barb fittings crimped on and it would never corrode out.

I googled pex pipe and found, is this a typo on the spec or what, max working temp is 73 degrees F ?

3/8 pipe 1/2 OD.. wtf

In the link, scroll to specs and open drop down

Nice ski..

Pex is used for hot water lines. No way. And i know for a fact 1/2 inside is bigger than 3/8. Thanks. Trying to make Something decent out of it. Haha.

I did it for my freak build in 2013. Still ride the ski to this day and it is mostly used in salt. No issues ever. I used brass fittings to go through the bulkhead and stainless crimps.

Thats enough for me. At least one other person using it in salt and its still good. Thank yall for the replies.

What kind of bulkhead fitting are you referring to @McDog? I know the crimps but is there something that would be better than 5200 through the hull?

Ones like this. 5200 on the side in the closed compartment. The hose will hold it tight to the bulkhead. The only trick is getting access to it at a right angle to crimp the pex on. If you use the threaded ones you can cap them off if not needed like for a third cooling line or screw in plastic pieces with hose barbs on them.Screenshot_20220416-131350_Chrome.jpg

Got the pump and all removed and chopped another hole in my hull. Gonna re-do all the lines and steering tube. Looks like everything was leaking, around the driveshaft tube, bilge line, cooling line, steering tube, and the holes for the pump shoe screws as well.ots of wet foam everywhere.

Whats the best way to run a tube for trim? What do i need to do and on what side? I wont be doing trim on my pump yet but just want to run the tube for future use.

Found these bulkhead fittings. I think I’m going to use these for the cooling lines.

5/8” stainless tube on the port (left) side above the water intake line.Mock up your pump when you do this. That way you can line up where the tube needs to go for future trim.
Stainless tube that is threaded on the backside? How does the trim tube seal? I was thinking its like the steering cable tube.

Yo dude, righteous build! The 5/8" trim tube is only available in a straight stainless tube. This is the best option if you decide to use the stainless : https://www.mcmaster.com/89495K365/

The reason this is a good option is because there is a rubber grommet that fits the end of the 5/8" tube, and has a smaller hole for the trim cable. Looks like this

As far as placement, the trim tube comes out in the upper left side of the pump box/shoe mounting surface. Take a look at my FX-1 build and my Krash build, there are plenty of pictures of placement that should give you an idea of where you can place it. I ended up making mine about 5/8" to 3/4" exposed in the pump area and out of the bulkhead. That grommet only needs about 1/2" for a full seal, but you need a bit of room for the sealant on the tube. Don't forget to set the pump in the tunnel MANY times and check all possible interference areas for all lines and steering tube! 1/4" can make all the difference when its all said and done. You can easily make a steering tube out of 3/4" PVC and a heat gun. You want the tube to exit the tunnel as close to the centerline of the pump as possible, check for interference by installing cable and trim, and checking movement in all directions. I had to relocate the tube position on my FX-1. I personally decided to use a plumbing fitting on the end of the tube, this would allow me to change the steering cable assembly if it ever broke or became loose. Those are also seen in my build threads, very easy to make. The fitting on the end looks like this and can be had at any hardware store for $1

Thanks for the info. I will definitely make triple sure of placement. Im gonna redo the whole pump bulkhead area and drill new holes I believe. Bulk it up and reinforce it so screws from the shoe wont ever poke though into foam.
