Your probably right. It was a race course, they are dangerous, other ski's are running around you all the time. If Trace was concerned about it then he should not have raced. What is the difference from hitting a concrete drain to being hit by another ski? Not much. I have seen a guy that got tossed Got run over, hit in the head before (Macon, GA 2001) He is still eating with a straw last I heard. It is a very unfortunate accident. But that is what it is. Want to cast blame. Then sue Kawasaki Heavy Industries for producing a PWC that has a steering cable break. Oh wait, things break sometimes. Lets just sue the Promoter instead.....

I have heard that he didn't have insurance, but that is hearsay. But if that is the case, Why was he at Nationals, I would bet he was at the WF as well.

Man up, take responsibility for your own actions. Nobody forced anybody to get on on a "Race Course" and race.

racing w/o health insurance is just plain stupid... i remember back about 3-4 years ago you had to pay 70 bucks a season for the supplemental health insurance in case something like this happened.

have fun suing the mfr. on this one..... the craft was technically not designed for the manner in which it was used when the incident happened so it releases them pretty much from all liability in the situation.

does anyone know if it was a factory steering cable or an aftermarket one? the factory one are prone to stretching and breaking..... Wise Industries and Skat both make thicker steering cables to prevent this.... one would think 100 bucks for a cable would pail in comparison to the 10's of thousands in medical bills one would incur because of this....

Ya know if Mikey's insurance company is outta pocket for any of this, Mikey's insurance could go up... if so, he may be forced to go up on rider fees. I know he wouldn't want to.
Mikey has kept the entry fees lower than any other promoter out there in hopes that it will help more riders come out and race/freestyle...

Wow!!! Mikey is not only a Promoter, but he is an enthusiast that puts his heart into what he does! If it was just about making money Mikey would have left this sport 7-8 years ago like most of the other MONEY only minded people. I have been hurt at the world finals as well as other events, even with my insurance it cost me stupid money for the injuries, even with insurance, I'll be paying for my Daytona accident for at least a couple of years. Never did I ever think to sue the Ijsba at the world finals in 2002 when I crushed my chin off of the ramp jump(15 stitches) or sue any other promoter from one of my personal injuries at exhabitions or comps. One has to accept some personal accountability when entering a race or comp. Some current and old motocross tracks that I have crashed on are/were really sketchy but I accepted riding at them. I would even go back and ride the same track that I broke bones on. Every situation is different but I support Mike Young on this one.

Judge Racing builds Trace's boats.. one would think they would have the heavy duty steering cable on the ski.

Trace told me he was not going to be able to race at world finals, and I didnt see his name on the ijsba site.
I have raced with this guy for many years, I can only think that someone above him is doing the dirty work.

Your ijsba/apba card does charge something for only about 3k of insurance to be use over and above/after your primary ins has paid.
When you break your back like he did, 3k is chicken feed.

As far as Mike Young being at fault.. NO WAY..
You sue the promoter and your racing days are over IMO.
