I called MSD today. I knew they werent going to fix my enhancer, although they said "If you'll send it in, we'll test it and tell you whats wrong with it, but we cant fix them." Which is useless. After talking tot his guy, apprently MSD knows nothing of mass failing enhancers. So I linked him to many, many, many, many threads about them failing and all the complaints. The guy was quite shocked.

I think we should rally everyone, and send in all broken MSD enhancers at once so they REALLY get the point. They raised the price to 244 bucks and have even touched the thing for reliablity.

Enhancer

Jesse, I have had my Enhancer in my boat for 8+ years and it has never failed. Are you in the habit of ever cranking your ski with the plug wires disconnected? If so then you will get a feedback pulse that can go back to the CDI and smoke it. This true of any CDI and coil. The energy has to go somewhere. I always ground my wires or use some old plugs with a wire attached so that they will ground. Be careful of the live spark if there is fuel around.

I ALMOST always ground my plugs. We all make mistakes but yes my plugs are grounded. Not that a few units havent lived along time but jesus, MSDs are shooting like bullets in Iraq.

I have NEVER heard of a stocker blowing, but why MSDs?

Don't know why so many MSDs. Maybe some of the more recent ones were made with some lesser quality or underrated components. They could have gotten a bad batch of transistors or capacitors. It happens sometimes. I doubt that you will ever get them to admit it. I have dealt with this attitude from computer related parts manufacturers for years. All you can hope for is that they will discount a new one for you.

I've only had one ever go bad, and it's because my electrical box was a disgusting goo pit. I think there was even mold in there. AZ Heat+waterlogged electrical box is not good. I think I ended up replacing almost everything in that box.

Hey Wastland, your elec. box looked pretty nasty and had seen some water for sure. Maybe this is why the MSD took a crap along with your solenoid.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
I have had pretty good luck with them... it's no total loss, but with a 4.5 lb battery and a 2.0lb aluminum flywheel it'll do the job till I upgrade from the 701
