Super Jet Making a connector on stator wires

I am sure this has been covered, but I could not find anything on multiple searches. I am looking to add some sort of connector to the stator wires on my sj, so I do not have to pull the ebox whenever I pull my motor. What have people used with good results?

Use any kind of weather/water-proof connector. JSS uses the OEM Japanese bullet connectors. Several members on here sell those.

However: If you don't know how to solder and seal 100% reliable connections, then your idea is guaranteed to give you trouble in the future. The ebox has two nuts holding it to the hull. I'd rather deal with that, personally.

Or deutsch connectors.

Get em off eBay. Work good for me.

I know how to solder and use marine heat shrink, looks like I will order up a deutsch connector. Will a w crimper work for those?

You need a specific crimper for Deutsch connectors.

The weatherpacks are nice, plus I can get them at the hardware store here in town. You neded a special crimper for them too.

The crimp tool for weather pack is significantly cheaper.

Adding more connections equals more potential for electrical trouble is not a good mod IMO especially for saltwater use.

Did you just trade taking off two nuts to having to take off two nuts and 12 (Can't recall) screws???? Isn't that twelve steps backwards?

Yes, same as oem setup is what I prefer.

How often do you plan on pulling your motor? I would suggest not putting connectors on the stator. In all reality, if you're pulling your motor, might as well spend the 5 minutes and pull open your ebox and take a look inside. See if there's any moisture, see how your seal looks, checkout your relay, look at your fuse.

But this is America, do what you want. Get some waterproof connectors, maybe throw some dielectric grease around inside and you're good to go.

I ran a weather pack connector on my stator wires last year with no problems. Going to try the Deutsche connectors this year, just because I'm curious. This is in a freshwater only ski btw.

I'm also going to use Anderson power poles for my battery connections this year, I always lose the battery nuts.
