Looks like it was just an o-ring at this point. I'll clean things up and make sure everything is still flat/no dropped sleeve/warpage, get some new o-rings, and ride again one day.

I was worried a little due to the amount of exhaust blowing out the bypass and lack of water coming out.

Next year can we have the sand/shells removed before the ride?

i wish i had my toolbox at beach could have done a compression test and would have found a bad head gasket , i did mention head gasket, but the way everybody was clooging up , it was looking like a clog too , i could have checked the battery voltage on other peoples ski so their was no guess work, we should start a thread on pre freeride maintaince checklist a lot of skis had loose and leaking cooling hoses, people have to check their clamps on hoses they get hot and loosen up, i am sure your ski will be allright with new gasket in it, your ski sounded sweet on saturday

Make sure you check everything good. I overheated my engine in June and a crank bearing just seized about a week ago. I checked everything out and all was fine it just didn’t sound right after overheating. Luckily this happened at idle and I have no metal shavings in the case.

Glad to here that it seems like nothing too major and you will be back on the water. I am sorry that I had to tow you in on Sunday but I was more than glad todo it for you. We did a lot of towing especially related to cooling problems... The beach was trashed and it is usually a lot better...

I really appreciate it, and you really had the perfect speed.

Yep overheating sucks, those zebra muscles are hell. Even if I had a filter it wouldn't have worked. They got wedged at the bulkhead fitting on mine. Tools next year for sure, I just wish I had not spent all my energy with the OPD guys and could have spent more time getting gas and tools there.

Next year, I plan to have a special DE-CLOG kit on the beach ready to roll...

1. Can of Air
2. Screw Drivers
3. Long piece of 3/8" hose for blowing (Darin)
4. 10 guage solid wire for clearing clogs

The beach hasn't been that bad in years.... damn wind storm.

slight engine miss.. LOL

Eire carnage , did not overheat , engine would not Idle , had to ride just above Idle through the breakwater to get back , Blasters are a MF to mount in rough water with no power LOL ! strainers worked great by stopping some big weird shaped shells that could easily lodge in tubes the engine NEVER stoped flowing water with the strainers . Pro-x pistons ,possible ring snag ? I didn't want Darin and Will to feel like they were the only ones that lake Eire was picking on !

Ouch, was that after I left on Sunday? It ran good on Saturday.

I think I got lucky by noticing my bypass was shooting exhaust early on and getting towed back in, twice to the beach and once to the ramp.

Not sure ,happed around 3:00 I thought i was out of fuel because I had left the tank switch on reserve ,so I dumped more fuel in and still wouldn't Idle so i limped back with Madmatt while he was towing somebody else.

my ski was running like hell after letting my brother and his friend ride it.
i had a cooling line come off too.

i wonder how long they did that.
arghhh!!
but things seem good now at least .
i don't think any permanent damage was done.

the wost problem at that beach is the combo of tiny flat rocks and zebra shells that get in and clog at the pump inlet.
i have had that happen too many times now.
Each time required pulling the pump

damn! I gotta get some of those strainers.. where did you get those?

send away to macmastercarr ! I have them in both my skis ., one for each cooling line , those zebra mussles are long ,skinny , they will catch where ever a hose goes over a fitting on that flat brass ledge , I guess tapering each fitting inside might help .In daytona the strainer filled half way in 3 days riding , in my lake i never touch them . looks like at rock and ride they are the cats a$$

you dont happen to have a part number on those do ya?

http://www.mcmaster.com/nav/enter.asp?partnum=98775K411&pagenum=344 is the one I've ordered. It's the same as I used to use, but am not sure if the 40x36 screen its the same or not.

Just found my old orders from when I had the Speedwerx pipe, I originally had a 80x80 screen which is really fine (80 wires per inch) and switched to the 20x20. This time I ordered the 40x36, should flow well enough and hopefully not clog too often.
