low rise handlebars

went to the local bike shop and picked up a set of bars for the ski... I really think this is gonna be a good mod.... Rick Roy is usually right on w/ his innovations, so I figured it was worth a try.

they might not last long..the wall thickness of the tubing is thinner usually than the umis and ive been bending those allot latley..hopefully they hold up for you...you need to shorten the pole though to get your bars in the same place

edit: after looking at the pic better it looks like you just have them turned up...i dont like them like that for two reasons..

when the pole is on the hood your center of gravity is higher than it would be if the bars were lower..having the weight of the pole on the hood dosnt lower your center of gravity having your body that low is what lowers it

also its hard to put your elbows on the tray caps when getting up

taylor loves em though..i think it just takes getting used to

Someone needs to make 1.125" bar clamps. that will fit xmetal steering plate.

the bars I got were 25$ her locally... I can pick up a set if you want scott

maybe.......Im off friday, maybe Ill cruise down

butti just picked up an RRP system, it is TIGHT!!!

those are good for conversion ski's and X2 but wont work with a pole ski...

I was concerned about them lasting as well... they seem kinda weak. I will find out pretty quick... I wanted to move my pole position back a bit anyway. My back just can't take the short pole like that anymore

Yeah I figured. I never tried them on my SJ. I'd like to try something with bars like that though, I had some carbon low rise mountain bike bars I should have tried.. Never even thought about it.

Cool. I not against trying something new. Just wondered the logic behind it.

I was actually thinking while working on my ski the other day that I could get some mountain bike bars like that and mount them with the rise pointing forward to basically give a shorter turn plate. You'd probably have to tweek the bars some because of the up angle when mounting naturally would give a bent forward feel mounted like that.
