I hope his company does well and it sounds like he has some good plans for the shop and his business.

Hopefully any comments he made in the past were just comments from the past and we can all look ahead and watch the sport grow a little bit more.

The phone number thing isnt really a big deal its done far more than you think. If Paul is in Atlanta then he cant use the number unless its an 800 number because its not a 404, 678, or 770. When one of my wifes competitors went out of business the first thing that she did was call the phone company and get there 800 number. Its smart business if you ask me. Its the same thing as when people start there business with an A or A1 so there the first ones in the phone book. People with old phonebooks that need their sea doo fixed will call him and not know any different. They wouldnt send it to Paul in Atlanta anyway. I feel for the poor guy. When you think about how many hours he will spend on the phone with people picking his brain and not buying stuff (jetskiers are the worst). He should probably open a septic tank pumping business instead.

X-H2O.com was started in January 2006 as an outlet For Riders, By Riders to grow the sport of jetskiing.

Our focus is on expanding the visibility of our sport by promoting events, riders, and companies.

Isn't this on the x home page?

Promoting shady characters/companies is nowhere in that statement. If the guy is legit, great, welcome! If not, see-ya buh-bye.

Paul doesn't trash-talk competitors, and most engine builders don't either, because their work stands on it's own.

I figured there was an explanation for that.... That's is a great idea!!!!!!!!!!

I see no issues w/ this guy... If some guy bashed Paul while on the phone in a personal conversation, that is not any of our business. I think it's kinda lame to say stuff about it now, if you had let it go till now... (don't know if ya had)

Everyone talks sh*t to an extent. We don't know the mood of the conversation and or the context it was in... If someone came on here and said something bad about me, would you just believe them, or ask me???? Let's here what the guy has to say and go from there.....

Jetski forums are very impressive, the guy hasn't even opened his business yet and people already have conspiracy theories?? Who gives a crap, if he is good he will make it and if he is a shyster he will fail.

The conflict that was spoke of was on PWCToday and was a full bash..... Well that is in the past. if he wants to turn a new leaf. That is awesome more power to him. People were expressing what they have seen. Like I said I went over there to wish him the best. I Dont agree with the phone number thing. I dont think that is right !

If there was beef in a phone call fine. that is non of our bus.
It was taken publicly. If any of you were bashed online, it would be a different story.

We can give him a chance...

I talked to this guy on the phone. Not about Paul, but about a blaster seat a while back. I think he might exagerate a bit.....but he seems like an enthusiatic guy, who's trying to think out of the box (his blaster seat proves that). The phone number thing IS pretty standard business. I just let a domain name lapse, guess what, someone swooped it up. *shrug* Time will tell.

I wish him good luck. It is a good point that all the couch riders in NJ are gonna need somewhere to get their SeaDoos fixed. We had 2 shops close in Cleveland. I feel bad when people on the beach ask me where they can get their ski fixed, because there isn't anywhere.

Just let it rest and his business will speak for itself. We all know Paul is a great guy and want to jump in to defend him, but he doesn't need it. He is the King Dong of Jet Ski Motors and nobody will take that away from him. I am sure that he has so much business at Lanier that he can't even keep up with it.

Who knows? If he is a good guy maybe we can even wrench on skis there after the rager and drink a few soda pops. Time will tell.

ig one of my competitors goes out of business im buyin his number........ plain and simple........ if people call that number for business and hear someone else answer they will ask whats up........ now is where the chracter question comes in........ if my competitor did what paul did (move far enough away to no longer be of use to his local customers looking for routine service or repairs) id expalin that he had moved and that i was available to perform those services if this customer would like........ if the customer hesitates........ give them a new contact number for paul and bid them a good day while reminding them if they need any local help in the future that u are more than willing to help......... funny thing about customers ive found........ if u get them through shady business practices they are usually the type of customers u dont want to begin with............ if your honest with people and show them ur willing to help even when its redirecting them to the person they feel more comfortable with they will rememeber that............. hell knowing paul if this guy were to steer the engine work of pauls loyal customers back to paul when people call the old number, paul would probably stat dropping this guys name back to his jersey customers to pick up the local services........ and eventually this guy will b uld his own local following just as paul did........... again....... the number thing is actually real smart business........ the problem comes in when u have a niche market like this where everyone kinda knows everyone........ but if u use good business ethics with that number it can be a win win situation for everyone......... :arms:

Food and riding I'll be there !!! Like I said earlier, the guy seems cool and there is definately a market here for someone to make tons of money off working on sit downs and 4-strokes. I wish him luck and I'll stop by there often. Paul is still the guy I will go to for my stuff. The phone number, like sclevela said, isnt a big deal, AS LONG AS he deals with calls from people looking for Paul in a professional manner. Until he proves me wrong, he seems cool to me.

On a side note, I have no idea how his work is. I'm just going by meeting and talking to him. He does seem to have a few cool ideas in the works though. I'm sure he will expand on that if he comes to the x.

[Sidenote] Actually, Paul could have transferred his phone number over to Vonage or another VOIP provider and then kept it down there. I have Vonage and can get a number from any exchange in the US. People actually get confused when they see my number because its from another area in NJ (same area code, but more north of where I live).

Vonage rocks. [/Sidenote]

Well, I have to agree with the people who said that settign up shop there an dusing paul's old number was one of the best business decisions the guy could have made. It is very hard to start a business and be sucessful. Paul built up a big customer base in toms river. With him leaving, there would have been alot of people looking to have their ski's winterized come this fall. Now the "matinence customers" still have a place to go. Anyone who is a non-matinence customer of paul's knows he moved to georgia. SO let this guy pick up where paul left off in NJ. I havent met him yet, nor do I know how he will run the business. But I wish him luck in his endevour. As stated before if he runs a good business who cares.... Everyone has to make a living. I will most likely make it to the grand opening to check it out and do some riding.
