large hub impeller question

ok, installed a large hub prop in a stock pump. It was out of my Mag. pump and it's cavitating really bad. Is that supposed to work with a stock pump? Pitch is 11/17 and the motor is a 701 bpipe 61x 46mm carb. (I may have an air leak on the pump shoe, gonna check that too, but does this sound like the proper size for this motor?

I had that setup and was running a hooker 9/15 and it was perfect! I guess it depends on what brand/model prop it is.

I have a 11/17 prop on a stock 61x w 46 in my fixed steer. I think you are close. Maybe the pump seal is shotty

My favorite prop is an 11/17 skat big hub.

well, it definitely was the seal on the pump... when I flushed the ski today, water was pouring out that area, like there was no seal at all... gonna water test the mid shaft too... hopefully that is good and sealed up. It

BK, pretty sure it's a "hooker" it's marked 11/17 on the inside of the hub of the impeller.

11/17 would be way steep on a stock motor. I ran a 10/16 on an LPW Big Bore and it worked good. Went back to my 82mm TLR cylinder and the 10/16 worked good, but I could tell it was a little steep. Putting in a custom 9.5/15.5 Hooker this week.

Chris, surf was fun and wind was not much of a factor. It was going offshore part of the day.

BK, This prop will probably be too steep like you are saying, but the motor has a bpipe so it may be manageable. at least I hope so. Seemed to have a decent amount of low end when the pump was submerged. It's a temp fix for now till I get my mag done up. Not looking for the same kind of low end you are...

Cool, sorry I had to miss it.

true. You could toss in a stubby cone if it feels to tall.

Or add extra impeller washers to move prop forward to allow it to spoll up faster.

ok.... just one washer? I have an extra stepped washer that goes on the pump.

The oem stepped washer is 2mm. You can add extra oem or a/m washer to move prop forward and it will loose up and spool up faster off the bottom, then remove it when power is upgraded.
