If you look at the original post on pwctoday by Steve, it seems as though he wanted it to be custom hulls only. If you go by that, then so far he would be the only one eligible so I doubt there would even be a buildoff.

As I remember it the rules ended up being you had to start from scratch, and that was about it.

Steve, jump in here are clarify this buildoff!

Superramjet told me he might not be able to make it, he's been working like mad lately (work at work, not on his ski) because of the recent weather.
So that leaves Steve as the only A/M hull that I know of. Unless Pete is entering. That'd make 2.

i think steves original idea is pretty much impossible since, like darin said, hes the only one making his own hull from scratch.

even an "a/m hull" wouldnt qualify unless the entrant built it himself.

buying an aftermarket hull is pretty much the same as buying an oem hull. youre not making either from scratch.

Pauls was not from scratch last year. I beleive he starteed with a OEM hull. Steve has been kind of quiet...........he is either working like mad or is not really enthused about it b/c Paul dropped out.

The way all of us look at this............ You can start with an a/m hull or oem hull, but it needs to be completely reconfigured. Mine last year, used the same lines on the outside, but the inside & tray area were completely custom. so far Steve is the only hull maker among us, he is currently the only one capable to build a hull from scratch............. now in the future???

It is going to be difficult to compete with the boats from last year. I hear Pauls ski was like a top fuel dragster on the water, the WF ski was very clean and done up top notch and Highrollers ski was very unique and innovative. Nonetheless, everyone that is building a ski is devoting allot of time and $$ to thier boats. B/c of the different budgets and experience between each participant I imagine there will be a diverse range in the quality of skis. However, b/c of the new criteria where the boats will not only be judged on appearnace but performance and feel as well, that should level the playing field a bit for everyone. Especially considering that the powerplants will most likey be as diverse as the appearance of the hulls. B/c # of average Joe budget builds this year some people may take total build cost into account...........kind of a bang for you buck deal. Its going to be a blast guys

To tell you the truth.... I am busting my arse to make my ski the best I can with the limited budget and resources that I have. I am trying to do (something) custom to every part on the ski. I think this will, at least for the next couple years, be an amateur build-off. The big companies don't want to enter for fear of losing and looking bad. (Blowsion, Wamilton, 24-7) They could all build bad ass skis and one of em could take 4th.

However, it is all really for fun and to make Lanier a more fun place with some bad ass shiny, blingy, skis to look at. (probably a few cool innovations too!!) I will not be the least bit upset if I lose or take 4th. I just want to hear a few people say, "cool ski". I just think 6 Really cool skis in the build-off is better than 3 skis in the build-off. Next year there will probably be 6 completely different people in it. (I know I'm not doing it again for at least 3 years)

Oh no!!!!!!!! Were dropping like flies here guys  Thats it I'm am going full force now to get mine complete......we need a good turn out. DJkorn and t-bone turn up the heat so we can have at least 3 boats in it in case Steve is out for the count. I have parts that are unaccounted for but it is looking like I should finish just in time.

hey rat, I'm lookin forward to seeing your square since I have one myself. DJ's sxr will be awesome to see too, Ive seen them set up for freestyle before, but I'm sure he has some things up his sleeve that hasn't been seen before. Isnt that what this buildoff is all about? Innovation and creativity? Steve will no doubt have some crazy, kick ass ski. T-bone's conversion will be awesome too, I know alot of people want to do it, and seeing his might just push people to actually do it. Good luck to everyone, cant wait!!!!

guiness92, I posted most of the cool things I'm doing to mine on the build page so there won't be any surprises here. Thanks for the interest, you guys are getting me pumped to complete this build. Hopefully I can enspire some squarnose guys to keep wrenchin away on that old ski in the garage. Everyones ski will be unique and taylor to our different ridin styles.
