You'll have to ride it to find out....
ps...better than you think.

The -2 pole and SJ steering make a HUGE difference...plus a couple other mods to make my SXR more Superjetty. Plus...it'll be fast.

I completely disagree. While we kid around on here, I think that everyone involved is putting some serious effort into these skis and people are going to be pretty impressed by what comes out of it. I know that I am putting my heart and soul into mine.

Really? I just threw a bunch of $$ ot mine  Will this year be a joke?.........not at all. A very diverse bunch of skis being built (mostly by Amateurs) but non the less different, functional and adds a little more fun to the weekend ride at Lanier. Whatever sflsurfrider

i mean, last years buildoff was between pro boat builders. this years isnt. its all good i guess. "joke" was probably the wrong term.

is pancaker entering his new ski?

brraap....thats so 2002
didnt highroller build a boat last year (isnt he entering one this year)........so at least there will be 2.......really the only differances between the two are the pros do it everyday and we dont and they get fiscal help in the build.........so if i get a chance to finish mine and i have all that time invested in it and thousand and thousands of dollars i wont really think of it as a joke.

Well... he built his own hull, right? You can't get more pro than that  He's been quiet lately, I bet he's hiding something new.

This year it sounds like there will be many more entries than last year (and not everyone's posting what they are bringing). So how's it's a joke??? It sucks if everyone's not ready, but compared to 3 boats last year... this year will be better IMO.

building your own hull doesnt qualify anyone as a pro. doing it for a living does.

He's just a kid, I don't know what he does for a living, but the only thing I know he does for $$$ is build ski parts (footholds, the front foothold for a while, at least 1 deck).

I'd like to see kick-ass skis, I don't care who builds them.

I guess I should only allow Pro boat builders to have their ski featured as Custom of the Month then.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

What I'm getting at is regular people can build very nice skis. 2 out our first 3 customs have been regular people, not pro builders.

did he build it himself? thats what this is all about, anyone can buy a boat finished, nearly finished, hell the guy that bought steves baot from last year could have it painted and enter,i didnt think that was the point of a build off, my self im building a boat from practically nothing and no one has done or will do any of the work exept me.
Dont you watch biker build off.

It's all in fun.............I like the idea of the build off. It gives a chance for guys building their boats to showcase them for everyone. Plus when you have that many different boats like we will this year it will be a great learning experience for everyone to see them all up close, how they perform and how much that performance cost ect. These are not skis that someone put footwells in and some turf. From what I can tell all these boats will be close to 100% reworked (motor, pump, hull, paint, turf and many new parts). I see what you are saying sflsurfrider but if they were only pro builders in the build off then it would just be Steve from WF this year. Once again, my prediction watch out for Tom aka: superramjet

Below is how my entry started

i guess its all relative. i mean, my ski looks good enough for me but i wouldnt consider it buildoff material.

I give all entrants huge props for putting their skis out there for the buildoff. It takes lots of time, money, skills, knowledge, and patience to build a ski. I personally cant wait to see what everyone brings. Anyone that thinks the buildoff is a joke must be able to build one hell of a ski and should enter it. :cheer:
