Just had my video pulled from youtube...

I recieved a "A copyright owner has claimed content in one of your videos" email from youtube and now my video is pulled.

I'm glad with all the thats on youtube that my video with >7,000 views caused a problem.

Seems that the song on there (Ladies and Gentlemen - Saliva) was bitched about.

I didnt say the name of the song or anything so that could be the issue so make sure when making videos to cite the song title and group.

Along those lines....I find it quite humorous that McCain's campaign is bitching at Youtube for the same thing happening to the campaign videos they upload.

Youtube's reply: "Sorry, the provisions of the DMCA are making us do it".

a lot of the motorcycle stunt videos have been taken down too...i heard somewhere that them taking it down is a warning from the record label for the music but if you keep doing it then they will press charges...i am not sure how true this is so dont quote me on it

yeah, im not too sure that will change your situation at all...crediting like that is something you would do when using "fair use" ...which in and of itself is a weird gray area...as an example, if dj took one of his clips and showed it in class to his students AND it was pertinent to the class then it would fall under fair use...otherwise you are just stealing from the music labels in their eyes...

alot of videos have been getting pulled and flagged over the last couple of weeks and i would discourage anyone from simply reposting videos...to me this looks like some entity gathering information for future litigation.

its kind of like all of the people who have gotten sued by the music industry for downloading music...personally I think most of those lawsuits are crap and the RIAA usually overinflates their supposed damages but...but...getting sued sucks no matter how you look at it, and it will cost you money one way or another...I would be wary...

I think it depends on the band and record company. Some encourage the use (Pennywise) and others do not allow it at all (Prince).

I think with youtube videos it is crap. Nobody is making money off of a youtube video. If anything, it is exposure for the band like MTV used to be.
