Did a couple on my SXR today and the other day, no bilge, no blockoff and no duckbill yet. Very little water got in, and the majority of it was gone after riding around a few minutes. Is there a stock bilge in the SXR's?
Just don't do too many of them in succession without checking the water level- ride around in between.
Duckbill and blockoff will be here Friday. That's the weekend project.

the stock system is what is called a venturi i have read here, its just like on my 550 kicks in around 3k rpms and it just dumps it out with rest of exhaust water and junk.

Ahhh OK....so it will only work if you are moving above idle- that's good to know. I floored it and cruised around a bit before trying another. Thanks!

c legaspi jump up a little pull on handlebars to get nose up and then push on handlebars to even out and start to jump higher and higher.

thanks ill give it a try.

so to clarify things for me, do you jump and pull up the bars at the same time and then push it forward/downward.

how about throttle. do you gas it as you pull up on the bars too to get the rear end up or do you just try to pull it up with the feet and legs.

last time i tried it, all i did was jump up and down on the ski to see if i could get it out of the water.

i guess ill keep trying.

you can gas it on the way up or not go about half throttle depending how fast that is on ure ski. If jumpin real high dont hold wfo in air unless u got a rev limiter

I used boat wake to learn how to sub.

A boat sends 3 waves for it's wake. I hoped the ski once (by pushing down and gasing it) and landed on the down side of the 1st wave (not bashing through the 2nd wave!). I Rode up the second wave and jumped as hard as I could. At first, I couldn't pull the back up the ski up, so the back of the ski will smash into the 3rd boat wave and force the front end down fast. I put some weight on the front and it burried the nose of the ski. I used the leverage of the wake to get the front down.

After that, I have been practicing getting the back of the ski higher so I didn't have to bash a wave. I've gotten better and can do a sub w/o hitting the back of the ski against a wave.

For the best pop, use the upside of the 1st wave to land on the down side of the second, that will give you a lot of momentum comming off the 3rd and largest wave.

They are all crutches and you don't necessarly need to use them, but it certanly helps to learn the trick.

As a side note, my 650sx doesn't have nearly the power a lot of people have. Timing boat wake correctly compensates for less power in the ski.

I got real frustrated today trying to pull off subs, and found this common denominator.....SPEED IS THE KEY. If you go too slow, you won't get enough momentum to really dive the nose into the water DEEP. At slower speeds, you will bury the nose, but won't truly sub the ski. Go fast enough and get on plane, then jump, pull up the rear, push down on the bars and push your body forward. Gas it on the final jump, blip the throttle throughout the move and gas it once you are under to pull out of it. I pulled off only two out of 30+ attempts- and finally realized I needed to go a lot faster than I was going originally.
