Yesterday I finished hooking up power and ground cables and bench checked the new ebox/electrical build for spark...it was good to go, but I would soon find out that my ski/hull had some issues.

I started to pull my stock motor next. After I pulled the coupler cover, I noticed the midshaft had been jammed back to far into the housing. Too many bottom hits at Daytona, LOL. After pulling the motor, I also found 2 bad motor mounts. One was toast and one was partial toast. I had an exhaust leak recently and my bilge was nasty. After a good cleaning, I replaced the motor mounts and pulled the midshaft.

I pressed the midshaft back to stock spec and regreased. I reglued loose/missing gas tank pads and replaced the leaking waterbox front exhaust blockoff.

After pulling the midshaft I found that the pump was out of alignment. I pulled the pump and found some kind of rope or hair wrapped all over the driveshaft in front of the impeller, who knew?

I installed and realigned the new pump and midshaft without problem and reinstalled rideplate.

My internal gas cap keeps breaking during back flip attempts. I think the tank slams the cap into the hood liner on landings.

I found some shorter straps from yami couches for my waterbox and gas tank to tighten them up. One of the straps is attached to its own mount on one end. I like that setup better.

I was finally ready to place the new motor. It went in with no major issues and then I noticed my throttle cable wouldn't quite reach. I was trying to realign it and pull it to get the length and I broke the end off. WTF!!!!

I was dead for riding last night after that, but I did find a cable, Fred (augustaf) had a SN cable for me (thanks again).

Today I installed the new throttle cable. Then I ran used oem fuel and water lines. I cleaned up the engine bay, installed the 61x flame arrestors and xmetal risers.

Lucas came over for the first ride today. It fired right up with no issues. Put it in the water and warmed it up, came in and adjusted the idle. Rode about one tank through breaking it in. It was killing me not getting right on it right away. I could tell the power was instant though.

Finally, I felt that I had ridden enough to pop a couple jumps. WOW! This engine pulls from the bottom and never lets up. I was expecting plenty of BRAP out of the hole, but the lower mid/mid acceleration is awesome.

First ride was perfect. No need for carb tuning or adjustment at all. No issues whatsoever so far.

I can't wait to get a little more time on it and really push it hard!

Thank you to Chuckie, Radney, Pat, and Mike. You guys really deliver BRAP.

thanks.

I rode it for the third time tonight 8-8:30. It seems to getting faster, and I am respecting it more. It starts easily and it always pulls with no hesitation. It is so powerful that I need to adjust my timing during tricks.

I slammed my face into the front of my helmet and gave myself a bloody lip on the first ride and sprained my thumb on the second, but I still love this motor. Third ride was a little short and more mellow, but I am learning the power band...all rpms/all the time.

I thought I felt a little driveline vibration, but I am not sure and I don't want to take anything apart.

I just want to ride it...

Man, no wonder you wanna ride it... compare it to something - like a non ported 701 with b-pipe, well dialed in...?

Can these engines be delivered as kits That I ccan put myslef? E.g. I do not want to send my engine to us to install a cylinder.... these engines looks soo good too...oh boy, oh boy... :)

The engine that I pulled was a stock nonported, unmolested 701 with b-pipe, ada head, reeds, enhancer (the usual limited bolt-on ski), it was well tuned.

This motor pulls harder at all RPMs, it is also a smoother, more linear power.

Yes, this motor was designed to be able to be sold as a top end kit. Everything you need is included, gaskets, power valves, etc. A modified base gasket is included so you can port the cases yourself. However, you should be an experienced engine builder probably.

I can handle the assembly..what I can't probably handle at this time is da price tag..? (around 2900 usd + shipping?) Is that more or less right? Can that setup work with "stock" 38mm carbs? I alos undertsnad that it uses the same electric box as oem motor?

No you can't use stock carbs. Stock 38 carbs were made for Yamaha by Mikuni for lean burn emission engines, not something for this big of a bore and the fuel requirements that this engine package demands.

We use Mikuni 46's on a Boyesen Rad valve intake system. You probably could use 44's if you already have some. (aftermarket only/no oem carbs)
Yes you can use 96-up Superjet 62T electrical system with adding a MSD Enhancer CDI.
Lightened stock flywheel is nice, TBM alum charging even better...
