98 kx 250 was a ama practice bike.has works forks and rear shock.pipe reeds ect he is askin 1300 for it is it wort goin to look at dunno if the wheels and hubs are am or stock
thanks

Well its a 2smoke,,If its in good condition 1300 would be the highest, you can probably get it for 1000. Being a 2 stroke they are cheap to rebuild if the crank goes, just realise it will need a top end.AM rims are worth 200 a pop for good clean used ones. Not sure where ya live, and this goes out to any one,if ya need wheels built hit me up. Ive been building them for 5 years and have sevral loyal customers that follow me from shop to shop for my suspension and wheel skills. So if yall get me your hubs, rims, and spokes I can lace and true ya one of the best wheels.

So is it worth 1300,if it is clean and is what you are wanting then yes..You can go do a compression check, but almost all 2 stroke bikes need a top end even if the seller says" its fresh" ya about a year ago and 100 motos.

Just look at everything, chain and sprockets if they are bad figure 150ish for new, tires 65 a piece, fork seals, steering bearings, swingarm bearings, shock linkage bearings. All those little things can add up so just be prepared.

Look at the air filter is it clean,or is it new? New might be questionable,,maybe he didnt take care of it and figured a new filter would look good. Look at the carb, is it caked in mud? If so it probably wasnt taken care of. Little signs can tell alot about the bikes life.

Good Luck

a 98 for 1300? two stroke?

man.. 1000.... no more...

suspension upgrades don't mean squat unless you're the same height/weight he is and you like your setup the same way he likes his.. suspension is all about rider weight and rider preference....

x2..

Yeah 1998 was a good year for the KX250, it was the last year of that style. It won one of the shootouts, at least.

In my town theres an older (90's) RM250 for sale, as well as a newer (03ish?) YZ250. What would be prices for these? I know that I should buy a 4 stroke for trail riding, but haven't seen anything near me at all. I ride marked trails like along the highway with the occasional rutted whoops from snowmobiles in the winter.

my dad raced a 98 kx250 for years in WORCS and Whiplash races. it was a great off-road bike, lots of bottom. he had to split the cases twice in fours years though.

I run one for motocross too. Alot of the pros are too outdoors the run the newer set ups that mount on the bottom. Head shake at 4th gear pinned with 20 others around ya isnt fun. Freestyle guys run one too.

I wouldnt run mx with out it.
